"We wanted to get through free agency, get through the draft, see where we are right now and we'll look at it from here and through the draft. But I really don't have any firm timetable on it. I'm very comfortable where we are right now. We'll talk with everybody and see where we are."Chargers' draft finds five immediate contributors in 2019 - Tyler SchoonThe most important part of this draft, and the main point of the article, is that Telesco found instant contributors on Day 3. That’s not to say any of them will be instant starters, but rather they will make an immediate impact on defense and special teams. Drue Tranquill, the team’s fourth round selection, steps in as one of the team’s most athletic linebackers on the roster. The needle continues to point upwards in Los Angeles as the team secures a solid draft haul - Michael RennerAll of a sudden the unit that got shredded up the middle against the New England Patriots looks a lot more formidable. Add in Notre Dame linebacker Drue Tranquill at pick 130 — a player we had 90th on our draft board — and you’ve got the makings of something special on the Chargers defense. The Chargers had PFF’s favorite draft of any team that made the playoffs last year as the needle continues to point upwards in Los Angeles.AFC West Notes: Chargers, Stick, Broncos - Zach Links“He’s going to play quarterback for us. What is even more intriguing is that Tillery led all interior defenders in pass-rushing grades on screens last year. Pair his length and athleticism on stunts with Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram on the outside, and you’ve got a deadly third-down package.Remaining free agents who could have fantasy value in 2019 - Daniel KelleyChargers coach Anthony Lynn said back in March that he could see a scenario where Gates comes back for one more year in 2019, but even that seems unlikely. Gates, 39 in June, has totaled only 649 yards and five scores in the last two years combined without missing a single game in that time. That was roughly his 11-game total in the 2015 season. If Gates does return, it would be only as a red-zone weapon, and it almost certainly would only be in Los Angeles.Social Media Information:BFTB Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBFTB Twitter: Follow @BFTB_ChargersThe Lightning Round Twitter: Follow @Lightning_RoundThe Lightning Round Facebook: Click here to like our pageBFTB Manager: Richard Wade: Follow @RichardWade With the team’s final selection of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers elected to add some stability to their running back room in the form of Justin Jackson. While a limited player, Jackson’s production at Northwestern was worth a second look for most NFL franchises. Rushing for 1,000 plus yards all four seasons for the Wildcats, Jackson’s senior season came with some hope for the future. Collecting 11 touchdowns and averaging 4.6 yards per carry Tyrell Williams Color Rush Jersey , Jackson projected to be a situational back or potential third down back. A rough preseason out on the coast, however, led Los Angeles to waive him following the team’s final outing in September. He went unclaimed and was placed on the team’s practice squad. By week 4, he was upgraded to the team’s active roster. In Week 14, thanks to a short week and injuries, Jackson will have a chance to make his mark with the Chargers offense as the team’s starter. Los Angeles’ injury woes have been costly to the team this season, and, while still young and inexperienced, Jackson is the last resort at running back this Thursday as the team travels to Arrowhead Stadium for a matchup against the first place Kansas City Chiefs. “You can teach vision. You can work with a guy’s footwork and his run-reads, but what Justin has — is instincts,” Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said. “That is something you cannot teach. He has better instincts than a lot of people would, and that’s why he’s been so successful over his running back career.”The rookie running back saw his role steadily increase over the past several games with the loss of Melvin Gordon. The Pro Bowl running back was forced to leave early in Week 12 against the Arizona Cardinals with a knee injury. Results showed that the former top 15 draft selection was expected to miss multiple weeks and could be limited for the remainder of the season. With Austin Ekeler expected to take on a more prominent role Derek Watt Color Rush Jersey , it was Jackson that impressed a majority of fans that Sunday night. While Ekeler still was productive in the passing game, it was Jackson who found success on the ground. Rushing for 63 yards and a touchdown, the former Wildcat standout showed growth in the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. His speed wasn’t perfect, but his clean cuts and juking skills made his overall night a memorable one. “I saw that’s been waiting on the runway. Waiting for his opportunity. When he got it, I thought he took full advantage of it. He’s not banged up at all. He’s fresh, and that’s what we brought him here for. This time of year, a lot of young backs have to step up and play, and he was ready.”With Ekeler now on the injured list, Jackson will share carries with Detrez Newsome and perhaps Derek Watt. But a majority of runs will come from Jackson, who still is getting used to life in the NFL. Before his real first chance at secondary running back against Arizona, Jackson rushed for just seven yards on five carries. Even after an excellent performance in Pittsburgh, Jackson faced the harsh reality of a setback against the Bengals. While Los Angeles pulled out the victory Travis Benjamin Color Rush Jersey , Jackson’s stat line suffered a loss. Rushing for just 12 yards on seven carries, the 23-year-old running back averaged only 1.7 yards per carry. But there’s always a light at the end of every dark tunnel. For Jackson’s tunnel, Thursday’s starting nod comes in the form of Kansas City’s run defense. The unit ranks 25th in the league heading down the stretch. It’s not hard to realize that Tom Telesco and the Chargers staff was smart for electing to keep Jackson around in whatever role possible. There’s talent there waiting to break out into a more prominent role. That wish is about to be real for Jackson on Thursday. ”Justin has done a great job of really staying on — you know, when we picked him late in the draft, one of the things that stood out was his production from college,” Chargers coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “We didn’t see as much of that maybe in the OTAs and training camp. He was nicked up a bit, but he did enough to make the roster, and he’s really been doing a good job on the scout team. That’s a credit to him. If you ever wanted to have a model for this is why you work on those teams to prepare you, it showed up last week.”While the Chargers injury bug continues to be a problem for the staff moving closer towards the playoff, Jackson could be another diamond in the rough. The team has found ways to win with limited talent and currently hold the second best record in the AFC.All it takes is one run to change the course of a game. For Jackson, he’ll be given plenty of opportunities to make that run possible.

Not only did Yates quarterback the Texans to their first division title and then their first playoff win in team history on January 7th, 2012, when Houston beat the Cincinnati Bengals 31-10. Now, all Giants fans can do is root for Dave Gettleman to be right.EDTShareTweetShareShareDaniel Jones reaction: Let’s give the kid a chance to succeedDaniel JonesChristopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY SportsNew York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman knows you aren’t happy today. He knows you think he screwed up, landed the Giants in “Quarterback Hell” and doomed them to being miserable for the foreseeable future by selecting Daniel Jones on Thursday night with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.Gettleman’s reaction to the pick being panned on social media, given an “F” in our poll and booed by fans attending a draft party at MetLife Stadium?“In time, you’ll be very pleased.”Gettleman has gambled his legacy as GM, and more importantly the success or failure of the Giants over the next several seasons on a wildly unpopular idea.No one should be surprised that Gettleman would buck popular opinion. This is the same man who drafted Saquon Barkley a year ago when the NFL world said he had to take a quarterback at No. 2. The same man who has continued with Eli Manning. The same man who traded Odell Beckham Jr. As he said at the Combine “no guts, no glory.”Gettleman certainly has guts. Will he get the glory? Will he be able to retire some time down the road, sit in a nice ocean side home on Cape Cod, turn on his television set on game days and watch Jones lead the Giants to victories, and ultimately championships? In a look at the best- and worst-case scenarios for Jones, quarterback analyst Mark Schofield said the move “has the potential to work” if the Giants handle his development properly, but that it “might end up failing” if the Giants ask too much too soon or don’t put him in a scheme that emphasizes the things he does well. Here’s my plea:Give the kid a chanceI know you’re angry. I know many of you think Dwayne Haskins or Drew Lock would have been a better choice. Or Sam Darnold a year ago. Or that the Giants should have taken Kentucky EDGE rusher Josh Allen at No. 6 and tried to get Jones with the 17th pick. I know many of you fear this will be Dave Brown 2.0, simply because both quarterbacks played for Duke.Full disclosure: I had the “Giants draft Jones at No. 6” post pre-written and ready to publish days ago because, as I had indicated in other posts, I fully bought the idea that the Giants thought enough of Jones to make that move. Yet, with the Giants on the clock, I was also putting the finishing touches on a “Giants select Allen at No. 6” post. I was ready to push “publish” on either post.To be honest Lorenzo Carter Color Rush Jersey , the scenario that unfolded at No. 6 is the one that I anticipated would perhaps push the Giants away from selecting Jones or another quarterback in that spot. My expectation was that the presence of either Allen or Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams would prove to be too much value for Gettleman and the Giants to pass up. That, obviously, turned out not to be the case. So, Eli Manning is your quarterback for 2019 and Jones, a guy some consider to be Manning 2.0, will likely be the guy once Manning is done.Get past your anger. Root for the kid to succeed. If you’re a fan of the “team” you can certainly think Gettleman is wrong. Way wrong. Off his rocker wrong. You should, however, want Jones to end up proving him right. Just like you should want Gettleman to end up being right that Manning can still play winning football in 2019, or that the Giants will end up better off for having sent Beckham packing. Some have already decided that Jones is a bust. Despite the fact that he hasn’t so much as set foot on a professional practice field for rookie camp. Some will be pre-disposed to booing the young man as soon as they see him step on the field, or most certainly when he makes a bad throw, a bone-headed play or has a bad game. That emotion or pre-disposition is understandable. If you truly want the Giants to succeed, though, you will keep an open mind and give the kid an opportunity to win you over.I don’t know if this will end up being a success or a spectacular failure. I have my doubts, and I have always wondered if Gettleman — who has never before had to select a franchise quarterback — could properly identify one. Maybe he has done that here. Maybe he messed this up. What I will give him credit for, as I have in other instances, is for having a conviction and following it. As a fan, all you can do is hope that he is right and you do end up “very pleased” with the decision.“Full bloom love”During his post-Round 1 media availability Thursday night, Gettleman left little doubt that Jones was his guy.“I loved him on film. I absolutely loved him. I loved everything about him. And then I went to the Senior Bowl and I watched him that week and I (had) decided to stay for the game,” Gettleman said. “I made up my mind that I was staying for the game and, frankly, he walked out there and I saw a professional quarterback after the three series that I watched, I saw a professional quarterback. I was in full bloom love.”Gettleman, at one time or another, watched all of the top-tier quarterbacks in person. He admitted, though, that Jones had been his target “for a while.”He knows there are critics who believe he could have gotten Jones had he waited until the 17th pick. “You never know,” he said. “I was not willing to risk it.”While Internet analysts loved Dwayne Haskins and Drew Lock B.J. Hill Color Rush Jersey , the information I had was that roughly half the teams in the league had Jones ranked as the draft’s No. 2 quarterback behind Kyler Murray. So, perhaps Gettleman was right that he would have lost his guy had he chosen to wait.Gettleman will end up on Cape Cod one day. Whether that’s a forced retirement or a GM choosing when and how to exit will have a great deal to do with whether he is right about this quarterback decision. This, to be honest, is the most important decision of Gettleman’s career. From the moment he was hired, we knew Gettleman’s legacy would be defined by the player he chose to follow Manning. For better or worse, he has made that choice now.“It’s a wonderful thing when need and value match. We are thrilled to get Daniel (Jones). He was up there with everybody else on our board in terms of value and he was just perfect for us. I really believe in this kid. I really believe he is going to be a really nice, quality quarterback for us, for our franchise,” Gettleman said Thursday night. “He’s the right kid for us. He’s just the right guy.”The Jones-Giants connection has been obvious for months. Coached by David Cutcliffe, at Duke, the same man who mentored both Eli and Peyton Manning as young quarterbacks. The similar low-key demeanor to Manning. A similar skill set, albeit with better mobility.Gettleman admitted that the Cutcliffe connection was “a nice piece” of the decision.“Cutcliffe, he’s a hell of a coach. He didn’t fall off a turnip truck yesterday,” Gettleman said. “The kid has been well trained.”During his pre-draft press conference last week, I asked Gettleman if he thought there were any Super Bowl-caliber quarterbacks in this draft class. At the time, he said there were “a couple.” Pretty apparent that by that he meant “Daniel Jones.”Thursday night, Gettleman circled back around to the Super Bowl idea when discussing Jones.“I just thought his pocket presence and his poise were really important to me. I’ve been saying it for a long time: if you can’t consistently make plays from the pocket, you’re not going to make it in the NFL. You’ll be just another guy. You look at Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks, they consistently make plays from the pocket,” Gettleman said. “That’s what this kid can do, and he is not by any stretch of the imagination an average athlete. He’s a really good athlete. This kid can extend, make plays with his feet, buy time in the pocket. He’s got feel. He really has all the things you’re looking for.”Agree or disagree, the choice is made. The future path is cast. All you can do now is wait and see if Gettleman has chosen the right road.

PDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:George Kittle makes the NFL Superstar ClubTwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailThere’s a lot to prove by the San Francisco 49ers in 2019. Jimmy Garoppolo needs to prove he can play a full season and be that franchise guy, Solomon Thomas needs to prove that No. 3 pick used on him wasn’t a waste, and George Kittle needs to prove that 2018 was no fluke. For now though, Kittle is on top of the world. Dan Hanzus released his 2019 NFL Superstar Club where he added some players at certain positions while removing players. For instance, he removed Tom Brady at the quarterback position and put in Deshaun Watson. At tight end, another New England Patriot was removed, Rob Gronkowski, and in his place is George Kittle. Kittle is now the tight end superstar. There’s one thing that merits being brought up and that’s Kittle’s upcoming year. I do think Kittle will be a dominant tight end in 2019, I don’t think he’ll come near the receiving numbers he had in 2018. In 2018, there was no one to throw to half the time, and Nick Mullens was forcing the ball to Kittle down the stretch. Defenses will catch up at some point, and the 49ers have a lot of new toys to throw the ball to. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has better receiving and touchdown numbers than Kittle in 2019, for much of the same reasons Kittle won’t get as many. Just because Kittle won’t shatter his record in 2019 doesn’t mean he won’t be the best tight end. His blocking is something that gets overlooked when you look at all his flashy offensive numbers and he will be vital to the running game in that regard. He also can use that 2018 potential to trick defenders into covering him, opening up passing lanes for other players. If you do want to talk about his offensive numbers, his ridiculous YAC means he’s going to be on a highlight reel whenever he gets the ball. In any case, it’s nice to see Kittle getting respect in things like this since he and Kelce seem to be neck and neck as the league’s ‘S’ class tight ends as I call it. Since the Chiefs have a bit of a more flashier offense (thanks to not getting their starting quarterback injured) Kelce seems like he may be a more popular choice, but Kittle has been getting quite a bit of love. Kyler Murray set the entire sports world ablaze Monday morning by officially committing to a career in football over baseball. The announcement kicks off what looks to be a wild few months leading to the first round of the NFL draft. But why so wild? Well Murray is now the headlining prospect in this class. There’s 70 days left until the commissioner hits the podium with the official draft card and rumors are already flying around. The draft process is fickle George Kittle Jersey , but the rumor mill suggests Murray could hear his name called early in the first round— like top-5 early with first overall being a legit possibility. Let’s play our best version of True Detective and try to connect some dots:Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY SportsThink back to a few months ago after Kliff Kingsbury was named head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Video surfaced of Kingsbury gushing over Murray, going as far as saying he would take him Murray number one overall if he had the chance. Now he does. Even though the Cardinals stated Josh Rosen is their guy, it’s hard to ignore the smoke surrounding Kingsbury and Murray. Another tidbit worth mentioning about Murray and Kingsbury is Murray’s new representation. When Murray left baseball, he left super agent Scott Boras along with it, moving on to Erik Burkhardt of Select Sports Group. Burkhardt, a known Murray fan, isKingsbury’s agent too. But that’s not all: Burkhardt is also a podcast host with another one-time dynamic quarterback prospect, Johnny Manziel. Manziel won the Heisman at Texas A&M with Kingsbury calling plays as the Aggies offensive coordinator. Hmm.Brad Penner-USA TODAY SportsAnother thing to chew on about Murray regards his financial decisions. Murray will decline the $3.9 million due from the Oakland A’s along with returning $1.29 million from his original signing bonus. It wasn’t on a whim he returned that money, it was a business decision. Considering current rookie wage scales, if Murray were drafted 10th, he would get a contract around $18 million with $11 million guaranteed according to Sportrac.com’s projected contracts. If he goes higher, more money comes available. For comparison, the 2018 32nd overall pick, Lamar Jackson got a $9.5 million contract with a $5 million signing bonus. Murray has the opportunity to eclipse his baseball earnings in year one in the NFL. Based off early evaluations and advice, could Murray already know he’s guaranteed to recoup those earnings by being a first round pick? It’s speculation, but at least something to think about with the timing of the decision. It could add up to nothing by April, but that’s what this time of the year is all about— speculation. Draft season could easily be renamed speculation season. But more importantly, how does Murray’s decision affect the San Francisco 49ers? One, the 49ers and New York Jets could be targeted astrade up options for teams thirsty for Murray’s talents. To be safe K'Waun Williams Color Rush Jersey , teams will need to jump in front of the Oakland Raiders at four, but it could be higher. The Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins could all be in Murray’s market along with the Raiders. On top of that, wildcard teams like Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Chargers and even the New England Patriots could be in the market for a young quarterback. If a team pulls the trigger on trading up to No. 3 with New York, a team could get frantic and offer the 49ers the house to trade up No. 2.Withlimited options at the quarterback position in the 2019 class, teams could be in a bidding war for Murray. The 49ers are set at quarterback with Jimmy Garoppolo, so they could be picking up the phone an awful lot on draft day. Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY SportsIt’s simple, if Murray goes early it pushes better prospects toward the 49ers. This draft class is deep with potential late talent, but a little top heavy when it comes to elite-caliber prospects. Remember Nick Bosa? If you were wrapped up in Murray hysteria I can’t blame you, but the Ohio State edge rusher was as good as locked to be the Cardinals pick prior to the Kingsbury hiring. Bosa is now at least in play for the 49ers. Even if the 49ers decide to trade back, the desperate run on quarterbacks could force better prospects deeper to San Francisco. Regardless of what you may think of Murray’s story—him leaving the A’s or him as a quarterback—the buzz surrounding Murray is not just good for this draft class as a whole, it’s a positive for the 49ers.
late Thursday night that Tyreek Hill would not be with the team during offseason workouts after a recording was made public of Hill and his fiancee discussing the incident that left their son with a broken arm. About 12 hours later on Friday Super Bowl Nick Allegretti Jersey , the Chiefs released the same statement. The Chiefs’ follow up, which is almost word-for-word the statement that Veach read to reporters on Thursday night, seems to be an attempt to buy time while they figure out what to do with Hill, the supremely talented wide receiver who should have already been on thin ice after he violently attacked his fiancee when she was pregnant with their now 3-year-old son.“We were made aware of the audio between Tyreek and Crystal,” the team’s statement said, echoing Veach’s comments. “We were made aware of this information in real time, just like the general public. We were deeply disturbed and concerned by what we heard. We have great concern for Crystal, we are greatly concerned for Tyreek, but our main concern is with the young child. We decided at this time and for the foreseeable future Football Nick Allegretti Jersey , Tyreek Hill will not take part in any team activities. We are going to gather more information, we’re going to evaluate this information, and we will make the right decision regarding Tyreek Hill.”Pressure is growing on the Chiefs not just to talk about taking the matter seriously, but to act on it by releasing Hill. Simply putting out a statement is not sufficient. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said he was shocked by security camera footage showing Kareem Hunt shoving and kicking a woman in a Cleveland hotel, and that it was a collective decision by the organization to cut their star running back within hours. In his first comments since the incident nine days ago, the team’s owner also said that the Chiefs were aware of two other offseason incidents involving Hunt, but not the extent of them.“We’d had some issues with Kareem not being truthful with what happened that night (in Cleveland) and we really felt in everybody’s interest we head in another direction,” Clark Hunt explained after Kansas City clinched a playoff berth with a 27-24 overtime victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The other two incidents occurred in January at a downtown Kansas City nightclub and in June at an Ohio resort. No criminal charges were filed in any of the cases Mecole Hardman Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys , and Clark Hunt said all of them were referred to the NFL for investigation. The league did not hand down any punishment until TMZ Sports posted the security footage from the Cleveland hotel, at which point Hunt was put on the NFL’s exempt list. The Chiefs then announced within minutes they were releasing the NFL’s reigning rushing champion.“I don’t think we were necessarily trying to make a statement,” Clark Hunt said. “We just felt like the best thing for the Kansas City Chiefs moving forward was to part ways with Kareem.”Clark Hunt said he was comfortable in the background work done on Kareem Hunt by the Chiefs’ scouting staff under then-general manager John Dorsey, even though he’d had disciplinary issues at Toledo.“When anybody comes to the Chiefs organization, part of what we expect of them is they’re going to be good citizens,” Clark Hunt said. “We want them to give back, but really the first step for a young player is learning how to conduct themselves not only on the field but off the field.”The Chiefs have taken chances on other players with character concerns and for the most part they have worked out. Tight end Travis Kelce had off-the-field issues at Cincinnati but has blossomed into one of the NFL’s top tight ends, while wide receiver Tyreek Hill — who was kicked out of school at Oklahoma State for an assault on his then-girlfriend — has become a model citizen and one of the Chiefs’ biggest stars.Even combustible cornerback Marcus Peters, who was kicked out of Washington before becoming a first-round pick of the Chiefs Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys 2019 , steered clear of any legal trouble before he was traded to the Rams. The NFL has come under intense scrutiny for its handling of the Kareem Hunt case, especially after pouring resources into establishing a department to handle such investigations. Cleveland police also have launched an internal probe into their “overall response” to the incident.“I’m not sure I’m at a point where I can say there was a breakdown (in the NFL’s investigation) and specifically what that breakdown was,” Clark Hunt said. “The league has spent a lot of time and resources trying to build a department that can handle these types of situations. Obviously it’s imperfect. I’m not sure you can ever reach perfection. There are limitations on the types of material the league security people can get, and I’m not sure we can change that.”Hunt was among the NFL’s leading rushers again this season when he was released, and the decision was a significant blow to a team with Super Bowl aspirations. It was compounded on Sunday when Spencer Ware, elevated to the starting role, left briefly with a shoulder injury and later with a hamstring problem.Still, Clark Hunt made it clear that releasing Hunt was the right decision for the organization, and that he hoped Kareem Hunt would seek counseling and perhaps find his way back to the NFL.“There was a report today that he’s going to do that 2019 Mecole Hardman Kansas City Chiefs ,” Clark Hunt said. “I hope someday he can return to the National Football League. I’m not sure when that will be. But our message to him was, even though we are parting ways, we’re supportive of you. If you need help, we are here to help you.”__

Is this the year that changes? And if so, what does that mean for his running game outputs?CDTLos Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley is headed toward a blank page.JTG came out of the 2019 postseason on the back of limited playing time and misleading commentary from himself and Rams Head Coach Sean McVay to the point that nobody Los Angeles Rams Jerseys Stitched , inside Rams HQ or out, has a firm grasp on what Gurley’s 2019 season will look like.A recent article from the Athletic’s Vinny Bonsignore and Rich Hammond looked to project Gurley’s 2019 season statistically. It’s a courageous effort given the unknowns.Hammond voiced the unknowns well:So in considering where Gurley’s headed statistically, let’s first look at 2018.Gurley’s season can be broken down into four periods.Weeks 1-13: The Rams enjoyed their full running back depth chart with Malcolm Brown backing Gurley up.Weeks 14-15: Brown injured his clavicle against the Detroit Lions in Week 13, and the Rams didn’t make a move to bring in a replacement meaning the RB depth chart was Gurley> John Kelly> Justin Davis. That didn’t leave a valve to spell Gurley that the staff was comfortable giving carries.Weeks 16-17: Gurley aggravated his knee in Week 15 and missed the final two regular season games. The Rams signed RB C.J. Anderson who leapfrogged Kelly and Davis to immediately take on roughly 66% of the rushing workload with Kelly taking the other third. The postseason: Gurley returned into a jobshare with Anderson. The three games were distinct in usage, but overall Anderson had three-fifths of the carries with Gurley the remaining 40%.So in looking from 2018 to 2019, we’ve got two clear distinctions to consider. One will be Gurley’s overall readiness. Despite what we’ve learned about his knee and his usage in the playoffs, I’m not sure that Gurley can’t be as “healthy” for Week 1 for the 2019 season as he was for Week 1 last year. That being said, there is the obvious potential for Gurley to be less available physically. If that’s the case Taylor Rapp black jersey , then clearly we’re going to see a major reduction in his usage at least early on in the season. There’s also the nature of reaggravating the knee which would incur a major reduction as well if not some time off like at the end of the regular season. The second factor is the addition of RB Darrell Henderson through the 2019 NFL Draft. The Rams opted not to re-sign Anderson. Instead, they traded up to use the 70th overall pick to take Henderson. If the staff favored Anderson’s inclusion with Gurley throughout the playoffs, their willingness to move on from him and sacrifice draft capital for Hendo is a strong signal that they’ll favor their newest running back even moreso. So those two factors will clearly affect the outputs once we get to the season. Before we get to any statistical projection though, let’s check the math on Gurley’s usage in those four periods from 2018:Period 1, Weeks 1-13: 700 snaps (85.05% of RB snaps, 58.33 snaps/gm), 223 carries (83.83% of RB carries, 18.58 carries/gm)Period 2 Taylor Rapp Jersey Mens , Weeks 14-15: 125 snaps (91.24%, 62.5), 23 (85.19%, 11.5)Period 3, Weeks 16-17: N/APeriod 4, postseason: 120 (56.34%, 40), 30 (39.47% Taylor Rapp Jersey Cheap , 10)There was a significant reduction in Gurley’s rushing outputs over the back end of the season without a major reduction in snaps prior to the playoffs. In his first eight regular season games in 2018, Gurley averaged 21.13 carries per game. The final six regular season games? Just 14.5. That obviously preceded his playoff output of 10 carries per game in the jobshare with Anderson. So 2019.Bonsignore has Gurley averaging 15 carries per game (that’s 240 total) finishing with 1,070 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Hammond goes with 200 carries (12.5 per game), 960 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.I’m inclined to go with something closer to Hammond’s projection less because of Gurley and more because of Henderson. The Rams’ coaching staff clearly was attracted to Anderson’s outputs and the versatility he added to their ground game in the playoffs to the degree that it persuaded some media members to go as far as to dismiss Gurley’s injury as a factor whatsoever. Consider then what will happen when Henderson has a good game especially if it comes in a game where Gurley doesn’t put up huge numbers. So I’m going to take the under and go with:186 carries for 952 yards (a career-high 5.12 yards per rush) and 15 touchdownsWhat’s your prediction for JTG in 2019?

Using their 48th overall pick, Miami traded back to the 62nd pick, getting the New Orlean Saints’ second-round pick in 2020 in the process, then traded the 62nd pick to the Arizona Cardinals to acquire quarterback Josh Rosen, who became expendable when the Cardinals selected Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray with the first overall pick in this year’s Draft. Rosen was selected tenth last year, with the Cardinals moving up in the Draft to grab Rosen. That 2018 trade saw the Cardinals give the Oakland Raiders a first-, third-, and fifth-round pick. That means, Arizona essentially traded the 15th Womens Jerome Baker Jersey , 79th, and 152nd overall picks in 2018 for the 62nd pick in 2019 plus a 2020 fifth-round pick.It was a strange move for the Cardinals, and it was an odd time for Rosen, who was still showing up as the first person in the building and the last to leave each day for the Cardinals’ offseason training program and voluntary minicamp. Rosen, in meeting with the media in South Florida on Monday, downplayed the swirling uncertainty of the pre-Draft build up and speculation of Murray to the Cardinals. “I mean probably my last two or three days were pretty hectic, moving and coming over here,” he said. “But at least for the first three months of this year, (they were) pretty normal. I had a fun offseason and went back to school. I went back to Arizona (to) work out and (I’m) just trying to be the best player I can be. Business stuff happened, so I ended up in Miami. I couldn’t be more excited to be here. Hopefully (I will) hit the ground running.”The Dolphins head into 2019 without quarterback Ryan Tannehill on the roster for the first time since 2012 having traded their former first-round pick to the Tennessee Titans this offseason. Miami signed free agent veteran quarterback Ryan Fiztpatrick as the presumed starter for the team, though the addition of Rosen could bring a position battle into training camp and the preseason. “They just wanted me to come in and compete,” Rosen said of the team’s expectations of him and his place on the depth chart. “I’m excited and ready for it. At the end of the day, I just want to come in and play football and compete and have fun. The timing on when I play or not – or if – that’s not up to me. It’s kind of similar to the situation the last couple of days. I just control what I can control and take each day by day.”Rosen has a reputation as a player who is hard to coach and is not always the best teammate - despite his teammates in Arizona seeming to like him. After the trade to the Dolphins Stephone Anthony Jersey , Rosen stayed an extra day in Arizona in order to play in Larry Fitzgerald’s charity softball game, honoring his commitment to the event. Fitzgerald spoke to The Arizona Republic and said of Rosen still appearing in the game,“I think that’s just a testament to who he is as a man. He could have very easily gone down to Miami already, or just said, ‘Hey, I’m not gonna do it,’ but it shows you his commitment, his character, and just friendship. I’m very fortunate to call him a friend. Looking forward to seeing him do great things in Miami.”“I mean I think I’m a really good teammate,” Rosen told the Miami media when asked about that negative perception. “I think that’s not really up to me to judge. I think I was a little bit…I had a little bit of a bad perception at first; but what I’ve tried to do is not really say or do anything extra and just kind of be me and continue on and keep my head down, and eventually the story will straighten out. I think it has, for the most part. Like I said, that’s another thing that’s out of my control. What is in my control is just what I can do every day http://www.thedolphinslockerroom.com/authentic-t.j.-mcdonald-jersey , basically to try and be consistent and be the same guy, and have the same kind of energy every time I step into the locker room and the facility so that all of my teammates kind of know what guy they’re getting. I think time and consistency is the best medicine to cure the narrative.”Asked about how the negative perception started originally, Rosen continued, “I don’t know. I was thrown into the spotlight pretty quickly at UCLA. I was pretty young, so I didn’t really have all of my answers as perfectly crafted as I do now. I just kind of said some things kind of off the cuff about all different kinds of things and people misconstrued them in certain different ways. I think the core root of it probably came from when I said I don’t need football, but that was in the frame of reference of I walked in on a couple of my teammates sleeping in the players’ lounge, and that kind of struck me. Just kind of getting to know these guys and the backgrounds that they come from, it was in the reference that if football is taken away from me, I don’t need to go to the streets and start dealing drugs. I have a good support system. That ‘I don’t need football’ kind of got misconstrued a little bit and I think some people saw that as maybe being entitled or whatever. But I think, like I said, that over the test of time, just being consistent and trying to be a really good teammate every day, I think the narrative has started to straighten out a little bit.”As a rookie Womens Kenny Stills Jersey , Rosen played in 14 games, starting 13 times, with a 55.2 percent completion rate over 2,278 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He played behind on the worst offensive lines last year, with injuries crushing any chance of Rosen finding success. No matter what, however, it was clear Rosen struggled as a rookie and now has to prove that was just a first-year issue. “I think (I learned) a lot of the little things,” Rosen said of turning his 2018 experience into lessons for 2019. “I think I got a lot better at a lot of the little things that have to do with football. Even small stuff like scheduling, like knowing how much time you need to allot yourself for pre-practice warmup, how much you need for post-practice, your recovery routine, how you ration out your studying Monday though Sunday. I think a lot of those little things, saving minutes here and there and just being more efficient with my time. That’s not even including all of the stuff on the field with the X’s and O’s. That’s a whole other conversation.”Taking those lessons and turning them into growth will be key for Rosen’s future in Miami and in the league. Is he still a franchise quarterback? “Yes Kiko Alonso Jersey ,” he stated simply. “Because I think I am a good quarterback and I think I’m a good leader.”After being moved out of Arizona after just his rookie season, Rosen was asked about the chip on his shoulder - a chip that was firmly placed there in 2018 when teams passed him - and if that chip grew with this move. “I don’t think my chip has got to grow anymore. I might tip over,” he replied laughing. Is Rosen ready to finally stabilize a quarterback situation that has had constant questions since Dan Marino retired? “I think I heard I was going to get that question, “ Rosen said laughing. “But yeah, I’m aware of the situation. Hopefully I can follow in some semblance of his massive footsteps.”But is he the guy for the Dolphins? “I don’t know,” he explained. “I think on paper I am (the backup), but Coach Flores said we don’t really have any starters right now. I think that’s healthy to have good competition everywhere. Whether I was the first or seventh string, I wouldn’t change what I did every day.”Rosen does realize he has work to do, both on the field and off of it. “Very rarely do you get a second chance to make a first impression,” he said. “I’m trying to get off to the right foot with all of these guys here and meet all of my teammates. I’m trying to break down this playbook as quickly as I can.”

The kickoff went into the end zone for a touchback, giving Kirk Cousins and company the football at their own 25-yard line to start things off.Cousins got things started with a couple of short completions, one to David Morgan and one to Stefon Diggs, to pick up a quick first down. Cousins then launched a long pass towards Adam Thielen, and Thielen made a great diving catch for a gain of 24 into Philadelphia territory at the 39. The Vikings then got a rushing first down thanks to a Latavius Murray burst on 3rd-and-1, and Minnesota was on the move. The Vikings pushed the ball down to the Philadelphia 10-yard line, but Kirk Cousins’ pass intended for Roc Thomas was knocked down and fell incomplete. and coming defense’s in the league was proven today as three players from that side of the ball were named to the Associated Press All—Pro team today.Rookie Safety Derwin James https://www.chargersfanstore.com/hats , Defensive Back Desmond King and Special Teamer Adrian Phillips were named to the team. The All-Pro team is selected by a national panel of AP media members who decide the top player for every position regardless of which conference they play in. James, who led the team with 105 tackles to go with 3 interceptions and 3.5 sacks, had an impactful year playing multiple positions. He is among four rookies to make the team. Colts teammates Quentin Nelson and Darius Leonard made the team as Guard and Linebacker respectively. Seahawks Punter Michael Dickson also made it.Chargers Cornerback Desmond King was selected as Defensive Back. The Bears’ Kyle Fuller and Patriots Stephon Gilmore were selected as the Cornerbacks. King solidified his standing as one of the leagues top slot corners this year grading as the second best corner according to Pro Football Focus. King finished with 47 tackles and 3 interceptions in the regular season. Chargers Adrian Philips may be the glue of this team’s defense, but he’s also the glue to a special teams unit that hasn'tgiven up as many big plays as season’s past. His 11 special teams tackles was one from tying with the league lead of 12. The only other AFC West team to have players on the All-Pro team were the Kansas City Chiefs. All four of their representatives were on the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Chargers Hoodie , Flex Tyreek Hill, Tight End Travis Kelce and Right Tackle Mitchell Schwartz were selected. The only unanimous choice was Los Angeles Rams Defensive Tackle Aaron Donald. Other notable names to make the team were Rams Running Back Todd Gurley and Texans Defensive End J.J Watt. Michael Badgley was not the kicker that everyone was talking about when Sunday’s games came to an end and that’s a good thing for the Chargers. While they never had a game-winning field goal try clang off an upright, the Chargers have some history with kicking woes in big postseason spots and that makes it easy to appreciate the job that Badgley did in Sunday’s 23-17 win over the Ravens. The rookie hit 5-of-6 field goal attempts to continue the strong run that began when he replaced Caleb Sturgis during the regular season and running back Melvin Gordon said he’s “happy that we have somebody here that we can count on.”“It’s the playoffs,” Badgley said Doug Flutie Color Rush Jersey , via ESPN.com. “During the regular season, every point matters. But in the playoffs they matter even more. With the team we’ve got, as long as I can go out there and get my side of the job done, we’re definitely a threat Trevor Williams Color Rush Jersey , so it’s awesome.”Badgley has now made 20-of-22 field goals and 27-of-28 extra points over the regular season and playoffs, which is a welcome change from past Chargers kickers and a reason for confidence if there’s a need to turn to Badgley in a big spot in New England next weekend.

" New York Giants NewsGolden Tate loses appeal Olivier Vernon Color Rush Jersey , suspension will be upheldNew,184commentsTate will be suspended for the first four weeksEDTThe New York Giants will be without wide receiver Golden Tate for the first four games of the 2019 season. The ruling from the independent arbitrator has finally come down, and Tate’s appeal of his four-game suspension for testing positive for a performance enhancing substance. Tate will be eligible to play in the three remaining preseason games but will not be able to play or practice with the team until after their Week 4 game against the Washington Redskins. While the length of time it took for the arbitrator to hand down his decision is notable, the fact that Tate lost his appeal was expected. Tate’s case is a sympathetic one — taking a fertility treatment without realizing that it contained a banned substance — but the NFL is firm in their policy that players are responsible for what they put in their bodies. And even though Tate was honest and upfront about what happened and why Odell Beckham Jr Color Rush Jersey , the NFL does not want precedent to be set in these matters as it would create a potential loophole for bad actors to exploit. Now the Giants have to walk a fine line between getting Tate enough reps in practice and preseason to be ready for his debut in Week 5, but not take away valuable snaps from players they will need to rely upon in the first month of the season. We’ll just have to wait and see how the Giants respond over the coming days and weeks.Tate is maintaining his innocence. Dan Snyder may be getting impatient with his team’s inability to land a franchise quarterback. We noted today that there’s been talk of Washington trying to trade into the Top 5 of tomorrow night’s first round, and now there’s a report from Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan that Snyder has “taken over the first round of the draft.”In other words, if Bruce Allen B.J. Goodson Color Rush Jersey , Doug Williams and the rest of the front office are aggressively positioning themselves to move up, that’s likely on orders from the boss. Snyder isn’t as hands-on in the draft room as Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, but he’s not a hands-off owner, either. If he wants a franchise quarterback Aldrick Rosas Color Rush Jersey , he’ll tell his personnel people to get it done. For Washington, moving up to the Top 5 would be particularly important because the division-rival Giants, picking No. 6, may also be looking to draft a quarterback. If a quarterback Washington wants ends up in New York Janoris Jenkins Color Rush Jersey , Snyder would not be happy.Right now Washington is slated to go into the season with Case Keenum and Colt McCoy. Alex Smith is not expected to be ready to return from last year’s severe leg injury. If Washington is looking to trade up, it would presumably be for Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins, Missouri’s Drew Lock or Duke’s Daniel Jones.
NEW YORK (AP) — Like most sports Ahkello Witherspoon Color Rush Jersey , football has its own lexicon. Here’s a look at 32 words and phrases — een identified with the NFL (in alphabetical order):A-gap — The gap between the center and guard on the O-line. Each gap is described in such a fashion, so the B-gap is between the guard and tackle, the C-gap between the tackle and tight end, etc.Any Given Sunday — The adage refers to the idea that any team can beat any other in a given week, regardless of record. It rarely applies to opponents of the New England Patriots in the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick era. Also the title of a 1999 football movie starring Al Pacino.Audible — While some coaches frown on it, and some even prohibit young quarterbacks from doing it, the audible is critical to any offense. It’s simply switching from the play called in the huddle to another play, using language that can include colors, numbers, places — remember Peyton Manning’s “Omaha”?Blitz — When the defense sends more than three or four rushers at the quarterback to disrupt or stop the offense. One of the most widely used is the zone blitz, popularized by longtime defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau in Pittsburgh.Bomb — A long pass attempt to either score quickly or stretch the defense to assist the run game or short/intermediate passing game.Bootleg — The quarterback will fake a handoff to a running back heading one way and will “hide” the ball by his hip or thigh as he runs the other way. Bootlegs usually are called close to an opponent’s end zone. Hard to fathom, but even slow pokes such as Peyton and Eli Manning have scored this way.Check-down pass — Everyone is covered deep. Or they haven’t gotten deep. Or there are no receivers who can get open deep. So the quarterback finds his check-down option, usually a running back or tight end. One reason completion percentages have risen in recent years is the use of check downs.End around — A similar play to a sweep or a jet sweep, except it’s always run by a receiver who has come in motion. The Chiefs used this play to great effect in the fourth Super Bowl when they upset Minnesota.Game plan — The strategy each team puts together weekly. Some game plans were as thick as the Manhattan phone book — if you recall what phone books looked like before everyone, including NFL teams, went digital. Players are expected to memorize game plans well before kickoff, with QBs and defensive signal callers needing to master virtually every position’s responsibilities.Gridiron — When the game was invented, before the NFL even existed and then in its early years, fields were marked in a checkerboard pattern resembling a gridiron.Gunslinger — Any quarterback known for having a strong throwing arm and leading a prolific passing game. Some examples include Hall of Famers Brett Favre, Dan Marino and “Slingin'” Sammy Baugh.Hail Mary — Credit Hall of Famer Roger Staubach with this. After the Dallas Cowboys quarterback completed a late 50-yard pass to Drew Pearson to win a playoff game at Minnesota, Staubach said: “I guess you could call it a Hail Mary. You throw it up and pray.”Hard count — One talent every successful quarterback must own is an ability to call out signals in a way that makes defensive players think the snap is coming before it does. That hard count causes them to jump offside. Drew Brees is a master of this technique.Icing the kicker — No, opponents aren’t throwing snowballs in winter or Slushies in warmer weather. This is the “art” of making a kicker wait before he attempts a field goal by calling a timeout, usually late in games. Thankfully, the NFL has limited this practice to one timeout; college coaches can use all three TOs if they have them remaining.Instant replay — Yes, it’s a staple in every sport, sometimes to the point of being a distracting intrusion. And it first was used by CBS in an Army-Navy game. Still, instant replay has become synonymous with pro football, whether for watching a great play all over again or in officiating.Juke — When any player makes a deceptive move to fake out an opponent on the field. Often https://www.49ersfanshop.com/C.-J.-Beathard-Jersey , but not always, applies to running backs and wide receivers. Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders was one of the best at it.Pay dirt — The 49ers should have invented this one, or at least pirated it. Hitting pay dirt means striking it rich and comes from the California Gold Rush in the 19th century. Too bad the Niners didn’t hit pay dirt very often last season: San Francisco was 4-12 in 2018.Pick-6 — One of many phrases whose origin is uncertain, but it’s definition is not. When a defensive player intercepts a pass and returns it for a touchdown, what else would you want to call it?Pigskin — No, the football isn’t made from pig skins. However, when it originally was created, the bladder of a pig often was used inside to help inflate the ball. We would not suggest trying it on the barbecue, though.Play action — Sounds like what goes on in a casino. It’s actually the act of a quarterback faking a handoff or pitchout as he drops back to pass, then throws the ball. It’s designed to slow the rush of defenders who have to protect against the run. Philip Rivers has fooled defenses for years with play-action passes.Point spread — For decades, the NFL tried to ignore its existence, even as it served as a catalyst for some of the sport’s skyrocketing popularity. Bettors need not pick a winner but are either given points if they choose an underdog or “lay” points if they pick the favorite. There are other options for bettors — coincidentally, sometimes are called “punters” even though they never kick a ball — such as whether both teams will combine to score above or below a certain number of points.Red zone — The area of the field inside the opponent’s 20-yard line when the offense is expected to come away with points, though it often depends on the quality of a team’s kicker. There’s also less room to operate, particularly in the passing game. Some teams call it the green zone. Others should call it the dead zone because they can’t score down there.RPO (run-pass option) — A more recent development and another tactic borrowed from the college game. A run play often is the first choice, but when the quarterback sees the defensive line or linebackers in position to thwart it, he has the option to fake the handoff and then throw. Receivers are taught to never assume the running play will be, well, run.Shotgun — An offensive formation when the quarterback stands roughly six to seven yards behind the center to receive the snap. Popular in this era of a pass-centric NFL, the goal is to give the quarterback more time to look at the defense, to throw, and provide better protection from an aggressive defense. John Brodie of the 49ers is believed to be the first one to use it in 1960. Now, everyone does it.Scoop and score — When a ball carrier loses the football, most sane people would simply dive on it to get or keep possession. But the show-offs want to scoop it up and run the fumble into the end zone. That would give them a scoop and score.Screen pass — Watch out, defensive linemen are storming the quarterback! No worries, it’s planned on the screen pass, when offensive linemen barely make contact with defenders, then pull outside as the quarterback tosses the ball to a running back or tight end or even a wideout Matt Breida Jersey , who then has a caravan of blockers ahead of him. Brett Favre was the master of pulling off screen passes.Spike — Most fake spikes, such as the one Hall of Famer Dan Marino pulled on the Jets in 1994, are far more impactful. But the spike came into vogue because the NFL no longer wanted quarterbacks chucking the ball far out of bounds to stop the clock. It has been a safety measure that has worked well. It is not grounding because it is designed to do nothing more than stop the clock. There also is the celebratory spike in the end zone, something perfected by the recently retired Rob Gronkowski.Sweep — Vince Lombardi didn’t invent this run to the outside, but his Green Bay Packers made an art out of it. QB Bart Starr would hand off or pitch to a running back, often Paul Hornung, whose blockers already had pulled in that direction, providing a convoy. All of them are in the Hall of Fame.A current version is the jet sweep, which usually involves a wide receiver coming in motion toward the quarterback and taking a forward handoff or pitch, using his speed to outpace defenders to the outside.Tampa-2 — For a tutorial on this defense, try Hall of Famer Tony Dungy and Monte Kiffin. We can tell you that it was developed in response to the West Coast offense and required strong man coverage by cornerbacks, a fast middle linebacker (or versatile safety) and a reliable pass rush. It basically is a seven-man coverage scheme in which cornerbacks try to force receivers to the inside, and safeties protect vertical throws while trying to keep the ball in front of them.West Coast offense — One of coach Bill Walsh’s main contributions to the game, the West Coast was mastered first by Joe Montana and remains the foundation for many offenses today. It featured the quarterback behind center using his running backs and tight ends as something of a substitute for the running game. Vertical routes were limited — in part because Jerry Rice could break anything into a touchdown — and there was lots of motion before the snap. Lots of success, too, as Walsh, Montana and Rice all rode it to Canton.Wildcat — This formation and play was borrowed from the colleges, or maybe even from high schools. But it became something of a fad in the last decade, then faded, but still is in use for teams with a good runner at quarterback or a halfback with excellent hands and possibly an accurate arm. The QB either leaves the field or splits out wide, while the halfback takes the snap in a shotgun formation and usually runs. But the threat of him passing makes the wildcat somewhat challenging.YAC — Yards after contact/catch. Yards gained by either a receiver or running back after an initial attempt to stop them by the defense, as opposed to receivers or running backs who are stopped immediately after contact. Some of the best current players in earning YAC include Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, Giants running back Saquon Barkley, and 49ers tight end George Kittle. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers sure are getting a lot of attention for a team coming off a six-win season that hasn’t even sniffed the playoffs the past four years. That’s what a season-ending five-game winning streak and the presence of a potential franchise quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo will do.One group not buying into all the hype is in the San Francisco locker room.“There’s no one (here) who thinks we arrived,” said left tackle Joe Staley, the only player left from the Niners‘ last playoff team in 2013. “We have a ton of work to do. We were a 6-10 football team. We were happy with the way we finished last year, but that’s in the past.”San Francisco put together that sterling 5-0 finish after a dreadful start to the first season under coach Kyle Shanahan that featured nine straight losses to begin the schedule Trent Taylor Color Rush Jersey , including a record five straight by three points or fewer. That all began to change after the team acquired Garoppolo before the trade deadline from New England. After a few weeks to learn the offense, Garoppolo stepped in and showed why the Patriots had groomed him as Tom Brady’s successor. He completed 67.4 percent of his passes last season, averaging 8.8 yards per attempt with seven TDs, five interceptions and a 96.2 rating to improve to 7-0 in his career as a starter.Among quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts last season, Garoppolo ranked first in yards per attempt, fourth in completion percentage. His 308.4 yards passing per game in his five starts also would have led the league had he played a full season. But more importantly, he changed the mindset of a whole franchise.“Jimmy is confident in himself,” Shanahan said. “I think everyone felt that right away. That’s why guys gravitate to guys. It doesn’t matter what people say or how they act. People can tell when people believe in themselves and when they don’t. But, it shows the most on the field. When you’re having success as a quarterback, as a receiver, as anybody, that confidence is only going to grow. When people start seeing you, the more plays you can put together the higher it gets.”Here are some other things to watch this season:SHERMAN’S HEALTH: One of the most high-profile moves San Francisco made in free agency was signing Richard Sherman after his release in Seattle. After years of tormenting the Niners, Sherman has flipped sides in the NFC West rivalry. But how effective he will be will depend heavily on his health. His 2017 season was cut short by surgery on his Achilles tendon. Sherman hopes to overcome that at age 30. He was slowed by a hamstring problem in camp, so it’s uncertain how much speed he’s lost from his days as the league’s top cover cornerbacks.REUBEN’S ROLE: Reuben Foster showed signs of being an elite inside linebacker as a rookie when he was on the field. The problem was he missed five full games with injuries and left several others for periods of time. Having Foster at middle linebacker is key and the Niners have tried to get him to use his hands more to limit the wear and tear on his body. But Foster already will miss the first two games because of a suspension following two offseason arrests, and San Francisco can’t afford to be without him much more.RUSH THE PASSER: San Francisco failed to generate much pass pressure last year, getting only 30 sacks. Elvis Dumervil was cut after leading the team with 6 ½, and no one else had more than three. Despite the lack of production, DeForest Buckner is one of the league’s top defensive linemen. He generates consistent pressure and could get more opportunities outside to get one-on-one matchups that could lead to more sacks.DEEP THREAT: One of the most impressive 49ers last year was speedy WR Marquise Goodwin, who smashed his career highs with 56 catches for 962 yards in his first season with San Francisco. The former Olympic long jumper proved he can be more than a deep threat as he ranked in the top six in catches (29) and yards (384) in five games with Garoppolo.“He’s continued to get better in every facet of his game,” Shanahan said. “He probably hasn’t gotten faster, he’s always been fast. But his hands have gotten better, he’s gotten more consistent. He tracks the ball well. It’s not just catching the easy ones now, he’s starting to make some tough ones.”RUN THE ROCK: The Niners let Carlos Hyde leave in free agency and replaced him with a more versatile back in Jerick McKinnon. The question remains whether San Francisco has the size in the backfield to get the tough yards when needed. McKinnon is a threat in the passing game but has never been an every down back and averaged less than 4 yards a carry the past two seasons. There were few proven options behind him until Alfred Morris signed midway through camp, but he might not even make the team. McKinnon and backups Matt Breida and Joe Williams were hurt in August, raising more questions about their durability.
It took almost eight years DJ Moore Jersey 2019 , y’all, but Cam Newton has finally become a good quarterback. performance for the ages against the Dallas Cowboys and has pulled his season average completion percentage up to 65%. As we all know, completing 65% of your passes on average is the absolute benchmark for good quarterbacking. It’s a black and white standard.I assume that is the story of the season. I assume that everybody who spent years claiming that Newton was overrated during his 2015 NFL MVP season, who was clamoring for Derek Anderson to start, and who has, for months, been trying to buy passage on the Taylor Heinicke bandwagon has now been quieted. That their support has been thrown unequivocally behind Cameron Jerrell Newton, efficient passer of the football Blue DJ Moore Jersey , as the quarterback of the Carolina Panthers for now and hereafter.Never we mind that Newton has averaged almost 40 yards a game on the ground. Never we mind that those yards often came on critical third and fourth down opportunities. Those yards and those plays aren’t valuable when produced by a quarterback and neither are the 55 touchdowns he has rushed for since entering the league. The Panthers stuck by their first overall pick for longer than many franchises would have. His ascendancy to being a good and relevant quarterback in his eighth season qualifies him as a late bloomer. Other first overall picks didn’t receive as much as time as Newton has to prove that they were good quarterbacks. Alex Smith only received seven seasons in San Francisco, which is mathematically less than Newton’s eight. David Carr, meanwhile, was released after four seasons by the Houston Texans.Ironically, both of those quarterbacks became good in their last seasons with their original teams. They posted 70% and 68.9% completion ratings respectively. Maybe that is the sign that this is Newton’s final year. Maybe the Panthers are just letting Derek Anderson rest for a season so that he can take the league by storm in 2019.It will be a tough call for general manager Marty Hurney, to be sure. On the one hand, Newton is now a good quarterback. On the other hand, the Panthers probably have a better chance of making the Super Bowl without him. It’s not like he ever proved capable of carrying their entire offense — kicking and screaming — through the playoffs all by himself. As for 2018 Blue Christian McCaffrey Jersey , Newton will probably try to maintain his performance as a good quarterback. He can do that if he keeps his season average completion percentage above 65%, I’m told. That will probably mean he has to stop running so gosh darn much. Smiling, too. That’s OK, though. The Panthers have never been hurt by leaving a few first downs on the table, letting drives stall out, and not scoring in the red zone. Veteran safety Mike Adams was cut by the Panthers early in the offseason and hasn’t been signed by another team, so it wouldn’t come as a great shock to learn that the 38-year-old decided to move on to other things after a 15-year NFL career.Adams isn’t ready to hang up the cleats just yet, though. The veteran appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio recently and said that he has spoken to a couple of teams Christian McCaffrey Jersey 2019 , but they’ve been “just rumblings” as opposed to anything that would lead to an imminent deal.Adams acknowledges that football is a young man’s game, but he said he’s told teams to watch his film rather than just think in terms of his age.“My thing is I want to go out on my terms. I want to say, ‘You know what, I’m done.’ That’s my main thing, go out on my terms. I think I’ve earned that,” Adams said. “The crazy part of that is . . . I don’t think my play has declined at all. So I’m consistent and the film don’t lie.”Adams started every game for Carolina last season. He had 75 tackles and three interceptions.
news"Yet another move has been made by Eric DeCosta as free agency looms. This time Ronnie Stanley Jersey 2019 , the team released veteran safety Eric Weddle. With such big news, Baltimore Beatdown shared their opinions.Kyle P. BarberI’m not too surprised by the move. Weddle didn’t perform as he did his previous two seasons with the Ravens. In 2018, Weddle didn’t force a takeaway and was a liability at times. Yes, he did make some plays and I’m not saying he was bad, but in the end, he’s not worth the big money he was due this season ($9.25 million). Instead, the franchise can save $7.5 million and go a couple of different routes. Either way White Mark Ingram Jersey , Eric DeCosta isn’t taking things lightly with the promotion. He’s cutting, trading and extending players the way he sees fit and it’s looking good thus far.Frank J. PlatkoOnce again, Eric DeCosta makes the correct move. Weddle has been a leader on the defense and impact player ever since arriving in Baltimore. He made the pro bowl the past three seasons, but his declining athleticism became far more of an issue over the past two seasons. Weddle can no longer cover opposing receivers the way he used to and he became far slower in breaking to the ball. His tackling had also become pretty spotty. By releasing Weddle now, the Ravens create even more cap space and can search for potential replacements in free agency and the draft. Personally, I think DeShon Elliott is ready for an increased role.Jacob LouqueOn a personal level for many of the players this is going to be a tough one to stomach; Weddle was a consummate team guy and a great resource on the field, even as he began to slow down in his last season. On paper Mark Ingram Jersey 2019 , though it had to happen. A 34 year old player on the clear downside of his career couldn’t remain on the books for over 9 million dollars, especially considering the team is beginning what looks to be a youth-centered rebuild. Weddle deserves credit for stabilizing what had long been a problem position for the Ravens, but this isn’t the stunning move some in the national media landscape seem to see it as.Dustin CoxEric Weddle helped to turn Baltimore’s secondary into one of the best units in the NFL in his three-year stint with the Ravens. His football intellect and leadership will be sorely missed, but there’s no denying that age was beginning to affect the Pro Bowl safety. This could very well be a move to save some cap space and bring the veteran back on a cheaper contract, or DeCosta could be looking ahead to a loaded safety market in free agency that includes Tyrann Mathieu and Earl Thomas. The draft is another option to fill the void at free safety, with Alabama’s Deionte Thompson and Delaware’s Nasir Adderly being two of the top candidates.Weddle’s time in Baltimore was a resounding success, with 2016 being one of the finest seasons ever for a Ravens safety. The on-the-field general will be missed Ben Powers Baltimore Ravens Jersey , but with a new general manager comes a new era.Vasilis LericosWeddle gave the Ravens a couple good years and brought much needed communication to the backend. But his range slipped as he aged and his tackling became suspect last season. Better to release a year too early than a year too late.On a macro level, it is encouraging to see Eric DeCosta prioritize youth, speed and salary cap management this offseason. The Ravens tried quick fixes and used stopgaps too often in recent seasons. A 2-year re-tooling plan may be the optimal route towards assembling a championship worthy roster.Kyle J. AndrewsI’m not completely surprised, due to the direction that general manager Eric DeCosta wanted to take the team. Baltimore has talked about getting younger and more athletic for years. Though Weddle started off with 10 interceptions in two seasons, his ability in coverage seemed to decline in his third season with the team. He had zero interceptions and being paired with a run-stuffing strong safety in Tony Jefferson just wasn’t feasible anymore. It’s not a knock on Weddle’s knowledge of the game — he had everyone in the right place at the right time, but as age comes, the athleticism wanes. $7.5 million in extra cap space should do Baltimore some justice in patching up their offensive line and assisting a stripped-down receiving corps. 2019 NFL predictions: A way-too-early look at who’ll be division winners and playoff teams - Jason La CanforaAFC Wild CardsKansas City and Baltimore.Baltimore’s offense should be totally..." />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHorizontal - WhiteBaltimore Beatdowna Baltimore Ravens communityLog In or Sign UpLog InSign UpPodcastFilm ReviewFanpostsFanshotsRavensAboutOddsCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 322 blogs on Horizontal - WhitePodcast Film Review Fanposts Fanshots Ravens StoriesScheduleRosterStatsYahoo Ravens ReportYahoo Ravens Depth ChartYahoo Ravens TransactionsYahoo Ravens PhotosAbout Odds Community Guidelines StubHub ✕Ravens News 5/21: Playoff predictions Ben Powers Baltimore Ravens Jersey , OT proposal and moreNew,9commentsEDTShareTweetShareShareRavens News 5/21: Playoff predictions, OT proposal and morePhoto by Larry French/Getty Images2019 NFL predictions: A way-too-early look at who’ll be division winners and playoff teams - Jason La Canfora1 under-the-radar move to love from each NFL team this offseason - Christian D’AndreaIs Former Ravens Defensive Tackle Haloti Ngata A Hall Of Famer? - Bo SmolkaNew NFL overtime rules: Explaining the OT format change proposal - Todd Haislop
ssed practice time in recent weeks while being listed on injury reports for a variety of reasons and he’ll add another one to the list this week.Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said that Jones will be out of practice on Wednesday because of a hip injury. Foot and calf injuries as well as an illness have been other recent explanations for Jones’ appearances on the injury report.“We’ve been through this before with him where we’ll take it through the first couple of days and see what it looks like for Friday Black John Cominsky Jersey ,” Quinn said, via Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com. “I’m encouraged by where he’s at. But until he runs — move and go — you have an injury that’s there that walking doesn’t bother you as much as cutting and turning and jumping for passes and diving like he does. We’ll have to wait a couple of days until we see where he’s really at.”Jones said a couple of weeks ago that he wasn’t interested in shutting things down for the year despite the Falcons being out of playoff contention. Given his importance to the team and the team’s investment in him, it’s fair to wonder if Atlanta feels the same way as the aches and pains keep mounting. Those were the teams I first fell in love with, and I came to them with a child’s awe that is difficult to match when you’re in your mid-30s and writing about or at least thinking about this team every single day. Even with the honeyed glaze of the past on those teams, though, you have to admit the Falcons of that era had some legitimately great players. While Andre Rison, Jeff George Cheap John Cominsky Jersey , Deion Sanders, and Chuck Smith are easy to summon up in the halls of your memory, there are several players who made huge contributions to the team who aren’t as readily remembered.Michael Haynes is certainly one of them. In my memory he looms very large, even though he was “just” 6’0” and 184 listed. From very early on, though, Haynes was a dangerous deep threat with speed who absolutely ate defensive backs alive, and he had one of the most productive single seasons in franchise history before the likes of Roddy White and Julio Jones came along.Let’s back up Keanu Neal Jersey 2019 , though. Haynes came into the NFL from Northern Arizona in the seventh round of the 1988 draft class, and he found himself in an offense that made sparing but effective use of him his rookie year, when he caught 13 balls for 232 yards and 4 touchdowns. He followed that up with two solid seasons, with a 1989 40/681/4 and 1990 31/445/0 slash line as part of some fairly productive offenses. He really came into his own in 1991, however. Haynes was an absolute monster that year for the Falcons, snagged just 50 balls and turning them into 1,122 yards and 11 touchdowns and averaging an absurd 22.4 yards per reception. He was a key player on a team that made the playoffs for the first time in a very long while Black Keanu Neal Jersey , and he proved it wasn’t a fluke by following it up with 48 balls, 808 yards and 10 touchdowns in 1992. Haynes would play one more season in Atlanta in 1993, putting up a career-high to that point 72 receptions for 778 yards and four touchdowns, transitioning into more of a possession, high-volume sort of role for Atlanta. The Falcons lost him to (guess who) the Saints the following season, where he enjoyed three solid seasons before returning to the Falcons in 1997 and managed 12 receptions, 154 yards Womens Calvin Ridley Jersey , and one final reception. He retired following that season.Haynes is far from the biggest name in franchise history at receiver—they’ve had a collection of greats over the years, from Alfred Jenkins to Andre Rison to Terance Mathis to Roddy White and now to Julio Jones and hopefully Calvin Ridley—but Haynes was a terrific one for several seasons. Perhaps more importantly, he was one of my earliest favorite Falcons, and for that any his stellar 1991 season, we salute him on this sleepy Sunday.

While the wide receiving corps has seen some improvement so far this offseason, it still lacked depth and the typical veteran experience. While there’s no guarantee Floyd even makes the team Youth Iman Marshall Jersey , it is worth taking a shot on a guy who’s had success in the league before, especially considering wideout has been a problematic position for Baltimore historically. fensive coordinators for their current vacancy at the spot and they wound up hiring both of them.Word on Monday night was that the Falcons had offered Dirk Koetter a job as their offensive coordinator and the team announced his hiring on Tuesday. They also announced that Mike Mularkey is their new tight ends coach. It will be Koetter’s second tour as the offensive coordinator in Atlanta. He spent 2012-2014 working under Mike Smith and then made the move to Tampa to work for Lovie Smith the next year. He replaced Smith in 2016 and went 19-29 over three years as the head coach of the Bucs.Mularkey preceded Koetter in the offensive coordinator job and ran the offense for quarterback Matt Ryan‘s first four years with the team. He has also been a head coach in Buffalo Brandon Fusco Jersey 2019 , Jacksonville and Tennessee. The Falcons finished in the top 10 in both points and yards in 2018, but the offense’s improvement over Steve Sarkisian’s first year wasn’t enough to keep the status quo in place. They’ll hope that the walk down memory lane goes better.Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Friday, Sept. 21 It’s a bit over 48 hours before Falcons-Saints, so the nerves are probably heightening by the hour. GLENDALE 2019 Hakeem Butler Jersey , Ariz. (AP) —est wide receivers to play the game but, beyond Larry Fitzgerald, the position is a major question mark for the team under first-year coach Steve Wilks. The names of those competing for playing time and/or just a spot on the 53-man roster are hardly that familiar: Brice Butler, J.J. Nelson, Chad Williams, Greg Little, Christian Kirk and Trent Sherfield, among others.Underrated is a good word to describe the group, the coach said.“I think that’s exactly the point, just because (of) the perception that there’s not any big-time there that we don’t have good players,” Wilks said after the Cardinals sweated through an outdoor practice Friday. The receivers on the roster, he said, are better than outsiders might think.Fitzgerald had another banner season a year ago, finishing second in the league and tying a franchise record with 109 receptions for 1,156 yards as he climbed to No. 3 on the NFL lists for career receptions and yards receiving. At 34, he was the oldest player in league history to catch at least 100 passes in a season. But nobody else caught more than 33 for the 2017 Cardinals and no other wide receiver more than 31. Add the departure of the Browns — Jaron and John (no relation) — via free agency and there wasn’t a lot left at the position when Wilks and new offensive coordinator Mike McCoy took over.Nelson and Williams are holdovers, Butler signed as a free agent, Little hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2015 and Kirk was Arizona’s second-round draft pick out of Texas A&M. Sherfield is an undrafted rookie from Vanderbilt who has shown promise early in camp.Like his coach Womens Kyler Murray Jersey , Butler believes the group is far better than people realize.“There’s not a lot of household names, you can say that,” he said, “but we’ve got big talent in the room.”Butler caught 15 passes for a career-best 317 yards and three touchdowns for the Dallas Cowboys last season and sees the current situation as a big opportunity.“I’ve just got to do what I’ve got to do, man,” he said. “It’s training camp. It’s about doing the grind day in and day out.”Nelson might be the biggest big-play threat in the group. Exceedingly fast, his 509 yards receiving (on 29 catches) were second on the team a year ago.“He can take the top off, as you guys have seen the last couple of days,” Wilks said. But Nelson’s career has been plagued by inconsistency.Williams has been working with the first team often as he enters his second year following a difficult rookie season. The former third-round pick out of Grambling State also has big-time speed but played in only six games as a rookie, catching three passes for 31 yards.“I feel like I’m way more advanced than I was last year, way smarter,” Williams said. “It’s an opportunity for me to really get it going.”The dynamic Kirk figures prominently in the Cardinals’ plans, both as a receiver and kick returner.“The one thing that I love about him is his motor,” Wilks said. “Of course he’s a good player. He’s smart and all that stuff. That’s the reason why we drafted him, but a lot of times you really don’t know what you get until they actually get here and they start going through their routine. This guy goes full speed on every play, every play.”Little, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 220 pounds, “has done some great things” in a comeback attempt that Wilks said might be the player’s last chance after bouncing from team to team following a standout rookie season in 2011 Byron Murphy Jersey ,when he caught 61 passes for 709 yards for Cincinnati.“Once you separate Larry, everything else is wide open,” Wilks said. “Everybody’s fighting for that position. Those guys are really competing hard. … It’s going to be interesting to see how things shape out once preseason hits.” What can the numbers tell us about drafting under Steve Keim?"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Podcasts The Revenge of the Birds podcast took charge. Many blue chips were already in place, such as Patrick Peterson, Calais Campbell, Darnell Dockett and etc. While the opposite unit was sorely lacking. What’s interesting is that one would assume this trend would balance out as the offense was shored up both with high priced free agents and draft capital being spent, with the exception of 2016, it did not, as you can see here. It’s also noteworthy to see that despite leaning strongly towards skill players and investing in the trenches, both units are still sorely lacking in drafted talent outside of running back. But wait you might say, perhaps the early picks have leaned too much on defense to boost the offense? Not so much, it’s been pretty balanced when distributed by round.Next I took a look at where our draftees have hailed, and the pick distribution should be rather predictable to those of you who follow college football.Things fall rather predictably by conference, but it is interesting to see that Keim isn’t afraid to dip into some of the lower ranks, which should be no surprise to anyone. I debated putting the follow chart in since it’s a little ugly, but if you’re hoping for a conference breakdown by round...I got your back, of course. Some miscellaneous notes: In every draft Keim has double dipped on positions/ position groups. And sometimes for multiple groups. In 2013 it was Guard and Running Back. 2014 it was wide receiver and defensive line. In 2015 two EDGE defenders were taken. A pair of corners in ‘16, safeties in ‘17 Black D.J. Swearinger Jersey , and offensive line last year. With a deep class at OL and a big need, those of you who wanted multiple OL taken should keep your fingers crossed. With the exception of 2016, trades have been made every year on draft day. These trades (both up and down) resulted in acquiring Kevin Minter, Earl Watford, Andre Ellington, Deone Bucannon, John Brown, Markus Golden, Rodney Gunter, Shaquille Riddick, Chad Williams, Dorian Johnson, Rudy Ford, and Josh Rosen. On the other end, trade partners would acquire Manti Te’o, Ryan Nassib, Brandin Cooks, Maxx Williams Black Budda Baker Jersey , Vince Mayle, Randall Telfer, Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, Adam Shaheen, Daeshon Hall, Tarik Cohen, Jeremy Clark, Shalom Luani, Jylan Ware, Kolton Miller, Rasheem Green, Joel Iyiegbuniwe, and Dane Cruikshank would be acquired with Arizona’s original selections.
