The Broncos want it to be decided elsewhere. In a 15-page document filed on Friday Colby Wadman Jersey , the three trustees charged with managing the franchise during the incapacitation of owner Pat Bowlen seek a stay of litigation recently filed by Pat Bowlen’s brother regarding the procedures put in place for determining the next controlling owner of the team.Pat Bowlen, before surrendering control of the team due to his ongoing battle with Alzheimer’s disease, established a three-person trust that would eventually determine which, if any, of Pat Bowlen’s seven children would be capable and ready to serve as controlling owner of the team. Last month, Pat Bowlen’s brother, Bill, filed a legal action challenging the authority of the trustees. As alleged by the trustees in the motion to stay the action pending arbitration, Bill Bowlen’s formal challenge to the authority of the trustees represents a “thinly-veiled continuation” of the efforts of Beth Bowlen Wallace, one of Pat Bowlen’s daughters, to secure control of the team. The document contends that the trustees previously have concluded that Beth Bowlen Wallace is “not capable or qualified” to serve as the controlling owner. The trustees hope to submit the matter to arbitration by the NFL, pursuant to the league’s Constitution and Bylaws. The filing makes it clear that the league has not yet accepted the matter for arbitration, but that the trustees want the litigation to be delayed until the NFL makes a decision on whether the ownership dispute allegedly at the heart of Bill Bowlen’s legal action will be resolved by arbitration. The document asserts that Beth Bowlen Wallace and her sister, Amie Klemmer, “have attempted to circumvent [Pat] Bowlen’s succession plan,” which allegedly contemplates that the trustees eventually will determine — with no predetermined deadline — which of Pat Bowlen’s children is qualified and capable of running the team. It’s believed that the trustees have identified Brittany Bowlen, 28, as the best candidate among the children of Pat Bowlen to eventually qualify as controlling owner. The trustees have not yet decided whether Brittany Bowlen or any of the other children of Pat Bowlen should inherit the power to run the franchise. Last month, Brittany Bowlen expressed publicly her interest in eventually qualifying to serve as controlling owner. DENVER (AP) — Just six days after needling his quarterback for not being aggressive enough, Broncos coach Vance Joseph found Denver’s season on the brink and his job on the line.He backed down.Trailing the Browns by four points in the waning minutes and facing fourth-and-1 from the Cleveland 6 Tramaine Brock Jersey , Joseph sent his kicker onto the field to a chorus of boos at Mile High Stadium.Despite his sound logic, the man who’s gone for it on fourth down 21 times, more than any other NFL coach this season — and seen his team convert a league-high 13 of those — chose the field goal that would leave the Broncos trailing by 1 with 4:35 left.“We were absolutely surprised they went for a field goal,” Browns safety Jabrill Peppers said after his game-ending sack sealed Cleveland’s first win over Denver in 28 years .“I didn’t know what they were thinking,” offered Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. “If it was me, I would have gone for the touchdown.”Joseph explained that he’d rather take the sure points there — Brandon McManus is 37 of 39 from inside 30 yards — than risk coming away empty-handed and then needing a touchdown to win it rather than another field goal.Forty-eight hours later, Joseph offered another impassioned defense of his decision. He said it was a fourth-and-a-long-1, the Broncos had just been stuffed on two runs that didn’t look pretty and he had faith his depleted defense would get a stop. This, even though safeties Dymonte Thomas and Justin Simmons were forced into coverage with cornerbacks Chris Harris Jr. (leg), Isaac Yiadom (head), Brendan Langley (head), Jamar Taylor (ejected) and Bradley Roby (lacerated lip) all out, leaving just one healthy cornerback in oft-injured Tramaine Brock.Left unsaid was the lack of faith Joseph had in his anemic offense led by the lackluster Case Keenum and coordinated by Bill Musgrave, who added to his bucketful of head-scratching calls this season when he dialed up a deep pass on first down moments after the Broncos had lost their fourth and fifth cornerbacks early in the fourth quarter.Keenum’s pass was picked off by cornerback T.J. Carrie — whom Keenum said he never saw — at midfield. The Browns converted that takeaway into the game-winning touchdown on Baker Mayfield’s 2-yard toss to Antonio Callaway with safety Justin Simmons helplessly trailing him in coverage.Joseph’s dice roll on fourth down might have paid dividends had the Broncos not surrendered a 40-yard run to Nick Chubb on first down when his cousin, Bradley Chubb, threw his man into linebacker Todd Davis, and Adam Gotsis missed the tackle.Gotsis atoned for his gaffe when he dumped Chubb for a 2-yard loss just after the 2-minute warning on fourth-and-1 when Browns interim head coach Gregg Williams went for the gusto and came up empty.“We came up here to win the ball game,” said Williams, who improved to 4-2 and burnished his credentials for the full-time gig. “I don’t think anyone was ever worried about me not being aggressive. We came up here to win it. Offensively, we were going to win it right there. If not Su’a Cravens Jersey , defensively we’re going to come back and do it.“That’s the aggressive nature of this team.”It was the Broncos who had been the aggressors all season, and Keenum wanted to go for it on fourth-and-1, although he added, “I can’t complain because I had the ball in my hands with a chance to win the game.”Denver’s desperation drive, however, started at their 13 with 1:49 and no timeouts left. They reached the 50 on Keenum’s 15-yard throw to Devontae Booker on fourth-and-2, putting them just 8 yards shy of McManus’ comfort zone. But Keenum rushed up to the line and spiked the ball to stop the clock at 52 seconds rather than getting a few more yards with a quick strike against a backpedaling, winded defense. That breather allowed the Browns to regroup and they subsequently showed two looks the Broncos hadn’t seen all night, forcing a pair of incompletions before Peppers’ sack of Keenum ended it .“It’s just a tough time right now,” said Von Miller, whose team hasn’t reached the playoffs in the three years since he led the Broncos to a win over Cam Newton and Carolina in Super Bowl 50.In other notable calls in Week 15:—Titans cornerback Logan Ryan announced Monday that he broke his left leg in Tennessee’s victory over the Giants, writing on Twitter that he believes a player should release his own injury news .—The Chargers trolled Stephen A. Smith ‘s pronouncement that he was excited about the Chiefs’ matchup with the San Diego Chargers (now in Los Angeles) featuring Spencer Ware (who was out with an injury), Hunter Henry (now on IR) squaring off against Derrick Johnson (not in the NFL anymore). After tweeting their inactives, the Chargers added this tongue-in-cheek update: “LaDainian Tomlinson, Dan Fouts and Lance Alworth are all OUT for tonight.”—After wearing cleats that paid tribute to the history of protest on Monday night, Panthers safety Eric Reid, who was one of the first players to join Colin Kaepernick in protesting racial injustice and police violence by kneeling during the national anthem when both were with the 49ers, tweeted a photo of his latest drug test notice, writing it was his seventh “Random” test of the season.
and continue to “stack wins.” After their 23-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9 Roosevelt Nix Jersey , the team has to move on quickly as they prepare to face the Carolina Panthers at Heinz Field on Thursday Night Football in Week 10. Today we talk about how after Artie Burns was benched in Week 8 for being late to a walkthrough prior to the Cleveland Browns game, it looks as if Coty Sensabaugh has taken the starting role away from Burns, considering their was no rotation at the cornerback position in the Week 9 win over the Baltimore Ravens, as there had been in weeks prior.Let’s get to the news:Mike Tomlin tacitly acknowledges Coty Sensabaugh has replaced Artie Burns as Steelers’ starterBy: Chris Adamski, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewAnother week, another game in which Artie Burns stayed on the sidelines when the Pittsburgh Steelers were on defense. This time, though, it wasn’t because he was late to a meeting. Had nothing to do with Burns’ ankle injury, either.During his weekly news conference Monday, coach Mike Tomlin tacitly – but not not-so-subtly – confirmed that veteran Coty Sensabaugh has passed former first-round pick Burns on the Steelers’ depth chart at right cornerback.Asked Monday if Sensabaugh has separated himself from Burns regarding playing time as one of the Steelers’ top two cornerbacks, Tomlin said: “You tell me, based on usage.”Sensabaugh played 60 of the Steelers’ 61 defensive snaps during a 23-16 win at Baltimore on Sunday. Burns did not play on defense for the second consecutive week. When Burns did not play cornerback during a win against the Browns on Oct. 28, Tomlin said it was because he was disciplining Burns for being late for a meeting the day prior. Both players were on the official injury report released Friday – Sensabugh for turf toe suffered late in the Cleveland game, Burns for a turned ankle suffered late in Friday’s practice. Tomlin, though, confirmed that Burns was healthy enough to play.Burns had started 31 consecutive Steelers games (counting playoffs) since earning a featured role Week 8 of his rookie 2016 season Jesse James Jersey , a streak that ended at a Sept. 24 game at Tampa Bay in which Sensbaugh started two weeks after he was a healthy scratch for the season opener.A seven-year veteran, Sensabaugh has started 36 of the 93 career games he has played. When the Steelers signed him to a two-year, $2.6 million contract in the spring of 2017, he was with his fourth team over a span of 14 months.Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger laments short week after physical Ravens gameBy: Chris Adamski, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewFour days after what is annually one of their most physically demanding games of the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers will play again.Like every NFL team, the Steelers have a Thursday night game on their schedule. Theirs falls Thursday at home against the Carolina Panthers. The Steelers have won four consecutive games, their most recent coming Sunday at AFC North rival Baltimore, 23-16.“I’m sure the fans like (Thursday night games); they like seeing football as often as they can,” quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said on his weekly 93.7 FM radio show Monday morning. “Players? (Sighs) It’s like, ‘Oh here we go, short week, especially after a Baltimore game where you’re physically beat up.’“I guess the only nice thing about it is you have the weekend off.”The Steelers met Monday for meetings at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, will practice for the only time this week on Tuesday and have a walkthrough Wednesday.During most typical weeks, NFL teams practice three times in addition to a meeting day and a walkthrough on the eve of gameday. The Steelers have played one in-season Thursday night game every year since 2006, the season before Mike Tomlin took over as coach. Tomlin said the coaching staff does its best to squeeze in a typical full gameplan and preparation into the short week.“You get to it (all) – but the depths in which you get to it is debatable Dan McCullers Jersey ,” Tomlin said of a short week. “So I think having a perspective of dealing with it for a number of years, I think the things that you choose to push to the front of the line if time is limited. Where do you allocate your time? Not only from time spent with players, but I am talking about staff time. The allocation of time and focus I think is the critical element of short week prep.”As deadline nears, Le’Veon Bell and Steelers not in contactBy: Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler, ESPNLe’Veon Bell has not had contact with the Pittsburgh Steelers this week, sources tell ESPN, and barring an unforeseen development in the next few days, is not expected to report to the team in time for Thursday night’s game against the Panthers, increasing the possibility that the star running back will not play at all this season.Bell faces a deadline of Nov. 13 to report in order to play at all this season. Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, Bell must report to the Steelers by 4 p.m. ET next Tuesday or he will be ineligible for the remainder of the season, a source confirmed to ESPN.The collective bargaining agreement mandates that any player on a contract or on a tender must report by the Tuesday after the 10th week of the season if he wants to play that year. But one source pointed out to ESPN that it “doesn’t make any sense for [Bell] to play now.””If he doesn’t want to play for $14.5 million, why would he want to play for $5 million?” the source told ESPN, referring to the prorated balance remaining on Bell’s $14.5 million franchise tender.Bell told ESPN in early October that he is staying away to preserve his long-term health for his next contract but intends to play football this season. Bell has been working out in Miami this season, but on Monday he tweeted “Fairwell Miami” without further explanation. But despite Bell’s tweet, the Steelers still haven’t heard from him and their focus remains the same with the players and coaches in the building as they prepare for Thursday’s game vs. Carolina, a source told ESPN.Bell said the Steelers told him they plan to place the transition tag on him this offseason Xavier Grimble Jersey , and a source confirmed to ESPN that the tag would be worth approximately $9 million to $10 million.First call: Stephon Tuitt takes dig at Joe Flacco after Steelers beat RavensBy: Tim Benz, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewExtra shotDefensive lineman Stephon Tuitt had a parting shot on Instagram for Joe Flacco.Tuitt’s Instagram post is a still shot of him tracking down Flacco before a late-game sack, accompanied by the phrase, “I think we was pretty physical today.”That was an apparent reference to what Flacco had to say after the first game against the Steelers earlier this season.”It’s not like today was the toughest Pittsburgh Steeler game I’ve ever played,” Flacco said.He also stated that he felt as if the Ravens could’ve had as many as 35 points in that game. A few other players made references to Flacco’s comments in the locker room leading into the game and after the win. Those quotes must have made an impact. And the Steelers shoved them back in Flacco’s face. While the Pittsburgh Steelers are favorites for arguably their toughest matchup of the year since Week 2, it would appear that much of the betting public has been backing the Carolina Panthers in the run up to the game, forcing a notable shift in the spread. A opening line that was initially as high as 7-points with a handful of Las Vegas bookmakers and a consensus 5.5-points with the majority of online providers has now narrowed to a spread of 3.5-points with most sportsbooks in Nevada and 4-points with the internet bookmakers. An early totals position of 50-points has been replaced by 52-points as the more common offering, with 51.5-points the lowest total currently available. From a starting moneyline price of -225, the Steelers can now be backed as low as -191. Given their recent records, a spread of 7-points was always too high for this game, but given the advantage teams playing at home generally seem to have on a short week, a spread of close to a field goal would seem to make Pittsburgh good value to cover.According to Oddsshark.com, Pittsburgh is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games and 5-3 ATS overall on the season. The total has gone over in seven of the Steelers last ten games and the under is 3-5 so far in 2018. Pittsburgh is 5-0 ATS in their last five games versus Carolina and the total has gone over in four of the Steelers last five games against them.We have been riding James Conner’s hot streak as first touchdown scorer since Week 5 and he has come through the us three times in the last four games. Consequently we will not be deserting him in Week 10. Clearly tired of giving away free money, most sportsbooks have the young running back priced at around 3/1 for the games first touchdown and around 13/8 for first team touchdown. Those looking for better value might be more interested in a saver on Vance McDonald at around 25/1 and 10/1 respectively.

could be of great help to Jon Gruden and Raiders in their trip across the pond Tonight the Seahawks head to London while the Raiders fly out Thursday night. The two teams which are a few hundred miles apart in the states Johnny Townsend Jersey , flying halfway around the world to face each other. Both teams are doing the trip non-stop from the West coast to London, which is about an 11-hour flight. The Seahawks will have a couple days to recover while the Raiders will have one day. According to Jon Gruden, he may need a lot more than a day or even a couple days.“I don’t know. I hope I can make it, honestly. I’m not great. I get claustrophobic,” said Gruden. “My son wasa weightlifter and he won a powerlifting competition in Belarus. I had to fly 14 hours. I had to fly home 14 hours. I had vertigo for a month. I couldn’t even lay down, the house was spinning. I am hoping I don’t get vertigo. I’m not a great traveler. I’ll be honest with you, I hate it. I’m not good. I’m concerned. I’m more worried about that than our goal-line offense right now.”The Raiders made the trip to London back in 2014. That year they chose to play in New England the week before, then fly into London and spend the week practicing there. That allowed them to better acclimate to the game. Then they went out and looked terrible, but that was mainly because they were just a terrible overall team. Dennis Allen was fired after the game, and the Raiders went on to lose six more after that. There are only two players from that 2014 team who will take the field Sunday. But there is one coach as well, and he is a savvy veteran when it comes to playing in London. Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson.“I know it’s seven for sure, maybe eight,” Olson said of how many trips he’s made to London for a game. The last two of those games were while he was the OC in Jacksonville which has played a game in London every season since 2013, so this will be the seventh time Olson has played in London in his coaching career.“I enjoy the trip, really. I think it’s good for team bonding. It’s good to get away for a little bit in a long season. I think it’s great this time in the schedule, Game 6, I think with the four preseason games it’s the half way part of the season. I think it’s a real good time for the team to bond. Get over there, be away from any distractions and just a good time to be with your teammates.” Olson has spent the week in London leading up to the game, obviously with the Raiders, and probably with other teams as well, and said he prefers to head over a day before the game as opposed to spending the week there.“I think it was good for our players to be here and rehab and rest here and be in their own beds and have a chance to sleep. We started by having an early week. They actually are going to get an extra day of rest Friday on the travel day and tomorrow night so I think we will be fresh and ready to go. I like the way that they set it up, our trainers and our strength staff, and coach set it up this year.” Olson is 3-3 on his six trips to play in London, and has won his last three — last season with the Rams and the two previous seasons with the Jaguars. So, I’d say his advice carries some weight as to what works best.Gruden said Olson will be his “tour guide” in London, though there won’t be any time for tourist type stuff.“It’ll probably be mostly just football. I think the length of the flight Gareon Conley Jersey , probably get over there on Friday and mostly just recover with the players. Get them to stretch. Get them a little something to eat. Get their blood pumping. Get a walkthrough. Then Saturday the day before the game, a lot of review. There won’t be a lot of time for sightseeing, but I’ll try to sneak out and make some friends.”Hey, maybe since the Raiders have a bye week a few of the players and coaches will stick around London after the game instead of flying right back home. I know I will.Follow @LeviDamien I can’t recall the last time I saw such an enticing group of potential free agent pass rushers. Lucky for the Raiders, it’s the position they have the most dire need, so the odds are fairly good they can reel at least one of them in this offseason.Certainly franchise tags and re-signings will lop probably about half of this list off, but as of now, take a gander at some of these guys who are as of now headed for free agency.Jadeveon Clowney, TexansThe can’t-miss number one overall pick in the 2014 draft. His elite prospect status is the main reason why the Raiders were able to get Khalil Mack with the 5th overall pick. After injuries ended his first two seasons early, he has now been to three-straight Pro Bowls including putting up over nine sacks each of the past couple seasons.Dee Ford, ChiefsFord has put up double digit sacks in each of his last two full seasons, including a career-high 13.0 sacks last season, earning him his first Pro Bowl bid. What a coup it would be to pry this pass rusher from their division rival.Frank Clark, SeahawksWhat a steal it would be to get this 25-year-old. Tom Cable probably remembers Clark tearing up his tackles in Seattle his last couple seasons there. Clark has averaged double digit sacks over the past three seasons, including 13.0 sacks last season. And he just went on twitter the other day saying he was playing at 60% last season.Ezekiel Ansah, LionsThe former 5th overall pick had put up 44.0 sacks over his first five seasons and got the franchise tag slapped on him last offseason. Then his 2018 campaign ended after 7 games. He had put up 4.0 sacks prior to the injury and the season before that he had 12.0 sacks, giving him 16.0 sacks in his last 21 games. He’s be 30 in May.Trey Flowers, PatriotsFlowers plays his best football in the biggest moments. He burst onto the scene in the Super Bowl against the Falcons in which he had 2.5 sacks, 2.0 tackles for loss and 5 QB hits. He had a sack and two QB hits on Philip Rivers last week as the Patriots beat the Chargers to bring his postseason total over 7 games to 4.5 sacks, 18 QB hits, and 6.0 tackles for loss. The 25-year-old has averaged 7.0 sacks per season the past three seasons.Preston Smith, WashingtonThe former second round pick has been up and down over four seasons in Washington. He had 8.0 sacks as a rookie, dropped to 4.5 his second season, back up to 8.0 his third season, and back down to 4.0 last season. Which means, even in his worst season Eddie Vanderdoes Jersey , he would be the best pass rusher on the Raiders.Za’Darius Smith, RavensAt 6-4, 272 pounds, he’s on the larger side. He’s shown versatility as the Ravens have moved him between DE, DT, and OLB throughout his career. Last season he put up a career-best 8.5 sacks which could either show he’s entering his prime or the dreaded ‘contract year numbers’.Chris Long, EaglesLong is about to hit 34 years old. So what. Jon Gruden doesn’t care about age if he thinks a guy can play. The 11-year veteran defensive end had 6.5 sacks last season for the Eagles at the age of 33. He also was part of the previous two Super Bowl championship teams. How cool would it be to have him finish out his career in Silver & Black just like his dad?Brandon Graham, EaglesMaybe another Philly pass rusher. Graham had his best season in 2017, with his 9.5 sacks helping the Eagles on their Super Bowl run, adding another sack on Tom Brady in the Super Bowl. He followed it up with a down year, putting up just 4.0 sacks — his lowest total as a full time starter. But he added 1.5 sacks in two playoff games.Dante Fowler Jr, RamsFowler was the third overall pick in the 2015 draft out of Florida and Mike Mayock’s top rated pass rusher. He has yet to live up to that billing, but he did put up 16.0 sacks over three seasons and is just 24 years old. Maybe Mayock thinks he’s still got that top pass rusher in him? Fowler had a sack in the Rams win over the Cowboys. He will have at least one more shot to show his wares this weekend in the NFC Championship against the Saints.Michael Johnson, BengalsWith Paul Guenther as Defensive Coordinator, the Bengals brought Michael Johnson back in 2015 after one season in Tampa. Johnson started 46 games for Guenther over three seasons, putting up 13.5 sacks. Last season with Guenther gone, the 31-year-old had just a half sack on the season. Maybe reuniting with his old DC would be just what he needs.Shooting starDemarcus Lawrence, CowboysSure, Lawrence would be at the top of this list for any team. He put up 24.5 sacks the past two seasons and is probably the top free agent on the market at any position. But that’s the problem. Lawrence is going to break the bank. The Raiders were unwilling to pay Khalil Mack what he was worth, so why would they now spend the kind of money it will cost to sign Lawrence? His being on the market would be great news, though, as it will help bring the price down for some of the other great pass rushers out there, perhaps to levels that the Raiders are willing to pay.Follow @LeviDamien
