Los Angeles Rams at Denver Broncos: Five Rams to Antworten

watch Week 6 finds the Los Angeles Rams heading to Denver with sub-freezing temperatures and snow expected at Mile High Stadium. The Rams are coming off a narrow 33-31 escape at division rival Seattle in Week 5 while the Denver Broncos got their asses handed to them by the New York Jets Dakota Allen Los Angeles Rams Jerseys , 34-16, allowing 323 rushing yards in the process. In a game where altitude and the elements figure to play a significant role, here are five Rams who will need to heat up to beat the Denver deep freeze.CB Marcus PetersPeters’ performance in Seattle left a lot to be desired. While questions remain about his strained calf, his gambling tendencies were exposed, as he was officially dinged for all three Russell Wilson passing TDs. Injured or not, his eyes were in the Seattle backfield and not on his man, and when they were, he was flagged for holding twice. To his credit, he’s owning it:Despite his obvious playmaking skills, Peters’ reputation as a “win some / lose some” CB a la Janoris Jenkins was on full display. At less than 100%, he lost a lot more than he won. Let’s hope his familiarity with Denver WRs Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders helps him get back on track Sunday, or the Rams could be in for another shootout.WR Cooper Kupp & WR Brandin CooksI know, 2-for-1 is a cop out Dakota Allen Jersey Baby , but these guys deserve to be mentioned here as they both missed practice on Wednesday while working through the concussion protocol. Kupp’s injury was apparently from hitting his head on the turf, whereas Cooks’ was downright scary as he appeared to be knocked out cold from a questionable hit by Seattle S Tedric Thompson. As of this writing, it looks like the Rams have a good chance at returning both players for Sunday’s game, which will sure make life easier for Jared Goff against the Broncos’ middle-of-the-road pass D. (Note: If either of these guys can’t go, WR Josh Reynolds would vault to the top of this list)RB Todd GurleyAs previously noted, Denver allowed 323 yards on the ground last week against Jets RBs Isiah Crowell and Bilal Powell. Is this finally the week Todd Gurley busts a long one?! A glorious flurry of snow and dreadlocks and Denver defenders flopping around like creamsicles?! Let’s hope so. He’s a safe bet to find the end zone a few times here, but I’m personally looking for Gurley to have one of those truly dominant games in terms of yards from scrimmage. In inclement weather, and facing the league’s 30th ranked rush defense, he very well could.CB Troy HillA surprise starter ahead of CB Sam Shields last week, 4th-year reserve CB Troy Hill performed admirably in Seattle as his 80.1 ranking by PFF was the highest of all Rams’ DBs. Now, as we all know, PFF rankings can be a tad misleading — this is likely more the result of Seattle’s penchant for throwing at Marcus Peters than anything Hill did or didn’t do. One thing he can’t do this week is body-slam a receiver for a bonehead personal foul call. Still, if Hill can contain WR Emmanuel Sanders (which is a tall order) Dakota Allen Jersey nfl draft , he can contribute positively to Peters’ risk/reward ratio — and force Case Keenum and company into a more one-dimensional gameplan.DL Michael BrockersMuch has been made of the Rams’ iffy 18th-ranked rush defense, yet most of the finger pointing has been aimed at Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh and our LB corps. Not sure why Brockers is getting a pass here. The 7th-year pro is pacing slightly behind last year’s career high of 54 total tackles, and has tallied one sack on the season. He’s been solid thus far, but hasn’t made many splash plays — I expected him to be the biggest beneficiary of the Donald/Suh tandem, and that simply hasn’t been the case. If the Rams are to contain Denver RBs Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman on Sunday, a big day for big Brock would sure help. Four picks, four defenders. Too much?"WhiteSections 2019 offseason2019 free agency2019 NFL DraftFull ArchiveLibrary 2019 NFL calendar2019 Rams regular season sched2019 Rams preseason schedMasthead Community Guidelines NFL Odds StubHub ✕2019 NFL Draft2019 NFL Mock DraftsLos Angeles Rams go all defense in four-round 2019 NFL mock draft at the Draft WireNew,23commentsFour picks, four defenders. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsMore mock.A new four-round mock at the Draft Wire by Luke Easterling has a pretty interesting scenario for the Los Angeles Rams: four picks, four defenders. The first round is relatively conventional. I guess it’s a bit hot to not have Ohio State Buckeyes EDGE Nick Bosa going first overall but having him at #2 and Alabama Crimson Tide DT Quinnen Williams at the top is hardly out of bounds. Interesting pick at #22 as the Baltimore Ravens pick up N.C. State Wolfpack WR Kelvin Harmon. But while it’s a mostly recognizable path to #31 Infant Dakota Allen Jersey , Easterling has the Rams taking the prudent path of trading down and adding extra picks in a move with the New York Giants:Adding a second-rounder and a Day 3 pick while still being able to drop just six picks? Yes, please. I’d be perfectly content to move back in the second round again, though Easterling has the Rams standing pat to take:An easy fit for the outgoing DL Ndamukong Suh and certainly fine value.Scan the second round; there are plenty of attractive potential targets for the Rams. There are targets we’ve seen mocked to us at #31 along with plenty of newer options. And because the Rams can credibly draft any position on defense along with the offensive line, the width of opportunity here is stark. By the end of the second round, Easterling begins to have teams pegged pretty heavily to their roster gaps. But with the Rams next up in the mid-90s, needs get murky and the motivation to make sure you get functional players strengthens. Still, the Rams stick with defense with their two third-round selections:Thornhill’s a really interesting prospect as a potential replacement for Rams S Lamarcus Joyner. He might not be quite as physical as Joyner is in run support, but he’s a more than capable pass defender as a prospect. Given how Rams Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips has helped mold S John Johnson III into a near-Pro Bowl-caliber safety, it would be hard not to get excited at this kind of pick.Jackson might take a little more working up to get as excited over. He’s a bit more of a heavy rushing edge than that lighter athletic types that many NFL fans are quick to fall in love with. He’d blend well with Rams EDGE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo who has a similar skill set, but Jackson has the build of former Rams EDGE Robert Quinn...just without the explosion.Easterling doesn’t specify what Day 3 pick the Rams would net in his hypothetical trade with the Giants back at #31, but it’s not a fourth-round selection as the Rams hold just their 133rd overall pick. After plenty of interesting prospects come off the board, Easterling mocks the Rams to:Hard not to love this kid. He’s a hard worker and a class act. Yanno, Stanford football and all...Biggest issue is just size. He’s a tweener without the size and bulk to effectively play inside and without the athleticism to play outside. The concern would be Alec Ogletree without the quickness jump Discount Dakota Allen Jersey , but perhaps he could be molded into a bit of a bigger version of Cory Littleton.Individually, I don’t have any gripes about these four. But as a foursome, it feels a bit too heavily pegged to the immediate roster issues on defense and doesn’t even pick up a cornerback. Granted, there’s no perfect solution to get offensive line help, a replacement for Suh, linebacking help inside and out, cornerback talent and a safety while hedging the potential future need at tight end all while keeping a late pick ready for a backup QB.Still, it’s a difficult balance and something about this just doesn’t strike me well.
