The Dolphins have the 13th overall choice Miami Dolphins Jerseys 2019 , and many expect them to use it to address their need for a franchise quarterback with Ryan Fitzpatrick serving as a bridge. But the Dolphins also need help along the defensive line and have done “extensive investigating” of Michigan defensive lineman Rashan Gary, Armando Salguero of the reports.Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has a familiarity with Gary as Ross spends a lot of time in Ann Arbor, supporting the Wolverines.Gary made 3.5 sacks in 12 games last season, and in three seasons at Michigan, he made 119 tackles, 23 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. He ran a 4.58 in the 40, so his production hasn’t always matched his physical ability. But Gary can play the five-technique, three-technique or stand up on the edge.“I played base end, but you’re able to throw me inside to D-tack. I could work over a guard,” Gary said, via Salguero. “I could stand up, rush off the edge. I could really do anything anybody wants me to.” The Miami Dolphins will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in a Week 16 showdown with playoff implications for Miami. If the Dolphins can come away with a win over the Northern Florida franchise, the South Florida team could be in position to make the postseason for the second time in three years. To get a better look at the Jaguars and what Miami can expect on Sunday, I turned to Ryan O’Bleness from Big Cat Country. He answered my questions about Blake Bortles/Cody Kessler, Leonard Fournette, and more. You can check out my side of our conversation previewing the Dolphins here.1. The Blake Bortles era ended after the Jaguars lost to the Buffalo Bills, but it sounds like there is a chance it returns this week. Do you think the Jaguars go back to Bortles, or is this Cody Kessler’s team the last two weeks? What should Dolphins fans expect to see from whichever quarterback is under center on Sunday? It sounds like the Jaguars are sticking with Cody Kessler under center this week. Kessler -- although he made some plays with his feet, -- is coming off of an awful game against the Washington Redskins, where he passed for just 57 yards and 3.4 yards per attempt. In three games with Kessler as the starter Andrew Van Ginkel Jersey nfl draft , the Jaguars have scored just one offensive touchdown, and two touchdowns total. Jacksonville’s offense is almost unbearable to watch at this point. Kessler is not going to push the ball down the field or take chances. In fact, he didn’t complete a single pass that traveled more than 10 yards through the air last week. So, Dolphins fans have little to worry about from the quarterback position, and can probably expect another conservative game plan with a lot of short passes and run plays. When Blake Bortles was benched, it was necessary, but Cody Kessler is not a starting-caliber NFL quarterback. Going back to Bortles at this point -- with the season all but over -- just doesn’t make a lot of sense, though, and Bortles very well may have thrown his last pass in Jacksonville (barring an injury to Kessler). 2. What is going on with Leonard Fournette?Fournette has dealt with a lot of injuries so far during his tenure in Jacksonville, and has only played in seven games this year due to a hamstring injury. It also doesn’t help that his offensive line is depleted with three starters lost for the season on the IR list, and right tackle Jermey Parnell also missed the last game. Fournette also lacks discipline, as he has already had multiple suspensions in short time in Jacksonville, most recently for running off of the Jaguars sideline and getting into a fight with Shaq Lawson of the Buffalo Bills. He’s also struggled with his vision and his yards per carry leave a lot to be desired (3.4 in 2018 and 3.7 for his career). He’s struggled to make impact plays this year like he did as a rookie last season. He is still ultra-talented, but he needs to be more durable and see the field better. Personally, I would be shocked if this happened, but there are rumors that the team may move on from him this offseason. 3. The Jaguars defense carried them to the AFC Championship Game last year, but the team is sitting at just 4-10 this year. The defense still seems to be one of the league’s best, allowing just 289 points this year - sixth fewest in the league. Is this just a matter of the offense being inept and the defense wearing down after carrying them so far last year? Is there a way the Dolphins can find success attacking the Jaguars? - Oh, and do me a HUGE favor. Keep Calais Campbell away from Ryan Tannehill’s knee. Thanks. The majority of Jacksonville’s issues do fall on the offensive side of the ball, which led offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to lose his job earlier this season. The defense has been statistically strong all season long Youth Andrew Van Ginkel Jersey , and the unit has remained solid for the most part, but just has not made the impact plays that made Jacksonville’s defense so feared in 2017. The sacks, turnovers and defensive touchdowns, which were a constant last year, have not been there this season. Because of that the defense has not been able to mask the ineptitude of the offense and carry the team to wins. The defense has also lacked discipline and has had some costly penalties and bone-headed unsportsmanlike conduct calls in clutch points of the game. The offense is awful due to both injuries and poor roster construction, but the defense is not completely blameless. A team that boasts Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye, Yannick Ngakoue, Telvin Smith, Myles Jack and Calais Campbell should dominate opposing offenses, but that has not always been the case this season. And no promises regarding Campbell. ;) 4. It seems like Doug Marrone’s future is very much in doubt with the Jaguars. I know BCC had a list of potential coaching candidates, both at head coach and then if there is a shakeup to the staff but Marrone stays. What do you see as Marrone’s future and what has/has not worked in Marrone’s tenure? Here is the article you are referring to. I would be surprised to see Marrone be fired following this season, as just last year he took his team to the doorstep of the Super Bowl, but if Jacksonville loses the next two games and finishes 4-12, I don’t think that is out of the question at all. At the very least, there needs to be changes at general manager (Dave Caldwell’s tenure is likely to come to an end), defensive coordinator (Todd Wash) and a few of the position coaches. of course, Jacksonville will also be hiring a full-time offensive coordinator this season. I think executive vice president of football operations (and former head coach) Tom Coughlin is safe and will influence the hiring of the new GM and potentially new coach, though, but again Infant Andrew Van Ginkel Jersey , I would expect to see Marrone back next year, but on the hot seat. Marrone and Coughlin built this team based on smashmouth football--run the ball down your throat and play incredibly tough defense. They also wanted to instill discipline into the locker room. And this approach really worked in 2017, as the players bought in, taking a three-win team in 2016 to an AFC Championship in 2017. This message just doesn’t seem to be getting across in 2018, though, and it’s strange. But when you look at the rule changes in 2018, which really favor offenses and now see that the league is seeing its highest-scoring year ever, the foundation the Jags were built on just isn’t sustainable anymore. So, it will be interesting to see what happens with Marrone anf others at the end of the season. 5. In a year of disappointment up in Duval, what is the bright spot? Where can the Jaguars build for the future? The Jaguars still have Jalen Ramsey--love or hate his personality, he remains one of the best cornerbacks in the league, and will start in the Pro Bowl this season. Also, while the Jaguars may have to make some cuts in the offseason, the majority of young defensive stars will return, as will the veteran presence Campbell. Also, it appears that the Jaguars have finally admitted defeat with Blake Bortles, and the team will get to choose its own quarterback to start the future with in the draft in April (maybe somebody like Justin Herbert or Dwayne Haskins). This was the first year in probably 10 years that the Jaguars had Super Bowl aspirations from both the organization and the fan base, so yes, this season was a major league disappointment.

After Jared Goff tried to hit Brandin Cooks on a pass to the end zone on first down from the New England 27, Goff went back to the well on second down with another intended for Cooks. Gilmore caught the underthrown ball at the New England 4 with 4:17 remaining, preserving the Patriots’ 10-3 lead.“It was clutch,” Gilmore said. “I mean Womens Aaron Donald Jersey , I knew he was going to throw it up, and I knew I had to make a play. I knew he was going to force it up there. We study. We are a team John Sullivan Jersey , so I’m not surprised at all.”
Even before the fourth lead change of the fourth quarter http://www.chiefslockerroom.com/authentic-spencer-ware-jersey , well before the 1,001st yard of combined offense was tallied, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Rams already knew this was a classic. Two powerhouse NFL teams at the peak of their brilliance dueled deep into the night at an ecstatic Coliseum, racking up eye-popping numbers that stretched the box score and credulity. There were 14 touchdowns, including three by defensive players. There were 56 first downs. There were 105 points, with 50 from each team — the first time that’s ever happened in an NFL game.In the final moments, the Rams did just enough to leave with a win they’ll savor for years. And if these teams meet again at the Super Bowl in 2 1/2 months, the Chiefs will remember the sting from coming up just short.Jared Goff threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Gerald Everett for the go-ahead score with 1:49 to play, and the Rams outlasted the Chiefs for a 54-51 victory Monday night in a showdown that somehow surpassed the hype.“It was a crazy game, crazy game,” said Goff, who passed for 413 yards and four touchdowns and even ran for another score . “It seemed like whoever had the ball at the end was going to win the game. There was times where we felt like we were going to put the knife in and finish them, and there were times where it was the other way around, where we had to claw back into it.”Patrick Mahomes passed for a career-high 478 yards with six touchdown passes in his latest jaw-dropping effort for the Chiefs (9-2), but he also threw two interceptions in the final 1:18 as the Rams (10-1) claimed the highest-scoring Monday night game ever played. The highest-scoring game in the league this season was an offensive fantasia of ingenious scheming from mastermind coaches Andy Reid and Sean McVay — along with 21 combined penalties to keep things interesting. The second half was an extended thriller featuring 59 combined points. Both teams scratched out fourth-quarter leads, only to see them evaporate. Mahomes hit Tyreek Hill with a 73-yard TD pass just when the Rams appeared to be pulling away early in the fourth Womens Carlos Hyde Jersey , and Goff replied with two late TD passes to Everett , a backup tight end with 31 career catches before this game.“It was a whirlwind,” McVay said. “I feel like I might need a couple of beverages to relax tonight, but it was great. This is what you love so much about the game.”And this game was ultimately decided by defense: Marcus Peters and Lamarcus Joyner came up with late interceptions as the Rams stopped Mahomes’ final efforts.“It’s always fun to play against real good teams,” Mahomes said. “You get to go out there and have fun … (but) it’s the same as when we played New England. You can’t make mistakes against great teams. You need to limit your mistakes, but be aggressive.”The Coliseum’s first Monday night game since 1985 was staged on short notice after the NFL moved the matchup from Mexico City to Los Angeles six days ago due to poor field conditions at Azteca Stadium. The Rams used the opportunity to give free tickets to thousands of first responders and families recovering from the dual tragedies of nearby wildfires and a mass shooting in Thousand Oaks. Those fans got an incredible treat for their reward — and if the video-game-like spectacle they saw turns out to be a Super Bowl preview, Atlanta will get an All-Madden-level show as well.“It was just cool,” said Todd Gurley, whose 13-game touchdown streak somehow ended in this offensive showcase. “It was a last-minute game and everybody (came) out in support. Had the families here, had the responders, so it was just a great overall crowd and it was good for the city.”This game has loomed in capital letters on the NFL’s regular-season schedule ever since these teams confirmed their status as offensive powerhouses in September. The Rams and Chiefs are the league’s biggest favorites along with New Orleans and New England — the teams responsible for the only other losses by Los Angeles and Kansas City this season.Mahomes had the most prolific passing game in the NFL this year, but he and Goff both made key mistakes.Rams linebacker Samson Ebukam returned Mahomes’ fumble and a one-armed interception for the first two TDs of his NFL career, while Kansas City’s Allen Bailey returned Goff’s fumble for a go-ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter.“It was electric,” Ebukam said. “It’s hard to describe, because I’m still like in a game mode right now. I haven’t calmed down yet, so it hasn’t really all sunk in yet.”BIG FINISHThe final seven minutes were particularly frantic and sweet: After Chris Conley caught his second TD pass from Mahomes for a 51-47 lead with 2:47 to play Demarcus Robinson Jersey , Goff replied with a 75-yard TD drive in 58 seconds, hitting Everett down the Rams’ frenzied sideline.Peters — the former Pro Bowl cornerback traded by Kansas City to Los Angeles last winter — then intercepted Mahomes’ underthrown ball near midfield with 1:18 to play, but the Rams only managed to take 14 seconds off the clock on their next three plays. The Coliseum roiled in anticipation of a big finish by Mahomes, but the Chiefs were pushed back to their 13 with 50 seconds left thanks to a booming punt by Johnny Hekker. Joyner intercepted Mahomes’ final desperate heave with 13 seconds left.“We can learn from this,” Reid said. “We can’t give up 21 points on turnovers. Have to take care of the football. We created some turnovers and points, (but had) too many penalties. We’ll heal up and get set to go for the stretch run.”TIMELY DEFENSEFor all the offensive brilliance on display, both defenses made game-changing plays as well.Aaron Donald forced two fumbles while sacking Mahomes, and Ebukam returned the first for a TD in the second quarter. The Rams’ unsung outside linebacker then made a spectacular one-armed interception at the line of scrimmage in the third quarter before returning it 25 yards for a score, powering over Mahomes to reach the end zone.INJURIESChiefs: WR Sammy Watkins had one catch for 4 yards against his former team after missing last week’s game with a foot injury.Rams: CB Troy Hill, WR Brandin Cooks and Peters all went to the locker room early in the second half with cramps. It will be dark and cold, perhaps absurdly cold, Sunday night in Kansas City. Arrowhead Stadium will be lit up, though, and the winner of the Patriots–Chiefs game will head to Atlanta for the Super Bowl. Here’s how the teams match up:WHEN NEW ENGLAND HAS THE BALLAs they have much of the season http://www.chiefslockerroom.com/authentic-mitch-morse-jersey , the Patriots will attempt to strike a balance of run and pass. In rookie Sony Michel (26) they have a ground force, and in fellow RB James White (28) they have perhaps the best receiver out of the backfield in the league.Don’t think Tom Brady (12) won’t make use of them often — and more often. Against the Chargers, White tied an NFL postseason mark with 15 catches, totaling 97 yards. The one thing Kansas City can do exceptionally well on defense is rush the passer with DT Chris Jones (95) and LBs Justin Houston (50) and Dee Ford (55), so Brady will throw those quick shots to his backs and WR Julian Edelman (11) and TE Rob Gronkowski (87). Should the offensive line, led by LT Trent Brown (77), C David Andrews (60) and RG Shaq Mason (69), provide ample time, Brady can then look deep, where he could have significant matchup edges with Edelman, Chris Hogan (15), Phillip Dorsett (13) and even Cordarrelle Patterson (84).Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton will need to be aggressive all game; we saw what happens when an opponent isn’t when Brady and Michel ripped up the Chargers last week. Sutton’s secondary has no dynamic players — S Eric Berry (29) is the best but has not been healthy this season — and using six DBs could be a necessity Sunday. The Chiefs (52 sacks) must get a strong pass rush on Brady, making him throw off-balance or before he wants to.One thing in Kansas City’s favor is a plus-9 turnover margin.WHEN KANSAS CITY HAS THE BALLDon’t change what you have been doing.All-Pro Patrick Mahomes (15) is only the third quarterback to throw for at least 50 touchdowns in a season; Brady also did it in 2007. Mahomes never gives up on plays, and he has an uncanny skill at prolonging them until WRs Tyreek Hill (10), Sammy Watkins (14) or Chris Conley (17) and All-Pro TE Travis Kelce (87) get open. Hill was the AP’s All-Pro flex player, showing his versatility.Considering his mobility Womens Xavier Williams Jersey , strong arm and resourcefulness, it is surprising Mahomes was sacked 26 times. New England, which had 30 sacks this season, wants to keep him bottled up, so key confrontations could be All-Pro RT Mitchell Schwartz (71) vs. DE Trey Flowers (98), and LT Eric Fisher (72) against an assortment of pass rushers. The Patriots also will get their linebackers into the mix, particularly Dont’a Hightower (54) and Kyle Van Noy (53).Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore (24) is an All-Pro and will see plenty of Hill. How the other DBs handle Kelce and Mahomes’ other targets could be a deciding factor; the New England secondary has been victimized often in road games.Given the potential for cold weather, the Chiefs could work hard to run the ball with Damien Williams (26), who has stepped up nicely since Kareem Hunt was released, and Spencer Ware (32), who has battled a hamstring injury. Mahomes doesn’t use his backs often in the passing game, but they are solid.SPECIAL TEAMSBoth sides are reliable and have some dangerous elements in the return game. Kansas City has Hill for punts and rookie Tremon Smith (39) for kickoffs, while New England features Patterson on kickoffs and the always-reliable Edelman on punts. The cold weather could make the football feel like a lead weight for punters Ryan Allen (6) of the Patriots and Dustin Colquitt (2) of the Chiefs, though wind shouldn’t bother either of them; they’re used to it.Field goals could be another matter. Although New England’s Stephen Gostkowski (3) and Kansas City’s Harrison Butker (7) have strong and accurate legs, don’t be stunned to see both teams go for some fourth downs. Gostkowski is far more seasoned in pressure spots.COACHINGAndy Reid is 2-6 against New England. He’s had one of his best coaching years, though Tyrann Mathieu Jersey , and his handling of Mahomes has been remarkable. As long as he pushes the envelope and avoids playing not to lose, he will give Kansas City every chance to reach its first Super Bowl since the 1969 season.Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels recognizes his team will need to score aplenty, and he never backs off. The Patriots might be losing defensive coordinator Brian Flores to Miami as Dolphins head coach, and he could show why he deserves that spot by finding a way to slow down a Chiefs team that scored 565 points this season.INTANGIBLESThe Patriots, in their record eighth straight conference title game, are so experienced in this environment. Yet they claim to feel slighted because of the doubts raised about their level of competence after going 3-5 on the road. A ticked-off Brady is never a good thing for the opposition, and the Patriots could become only the third franchise to reach three straight Super Bowls.Still, Kansas City is so parched for a trip to the big game — the Chiefs went to two of the first four Super Bowls and won in 1970, but none since. And this team has a freshness about it largely thanks to Mahomes, who shattered nearly every franchise passing record this season.Their meeting in October could have gone either way, with New England getting the ball last and making the final, winning drive. And that was in Foxborough.100 Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj Mehta
The Patriots declined to activate tight end Benjamin Watson after his suspension Kevin Faulk Jerseys Stitched , making him a free agent, Mike Reiss of ESPN reports. They had until 4 p.m. ET to add him to the 53-player roster. The Patriots paid him a $600,000 signing bonus but will pick up $2.06 million in salary cap space.Watson, who turns 39 in December, hopes to continue his career, Ian Rapoport of the NFL reports. Watson declined to speak with reporters Monday as he packed his belongings.Watson became eligible to rejoin the team lats week after serving a four-game suspension for performance enhancing drugs. He practiced, but the Patriots opted not to activate him for Sunday’s game against Washington. The Patriots have only Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo at the position.LaCosse played 73 offensive snaps, while Izzo played 20. They combined for three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. Some tight end named Rob Gronkowski, of course, still is out there. The Patriots might or might not be able to talk him out of retirement if they decide they want to add a tight end at some point in the season. The New England Patriots have suffered some demoralizing regular season losses during their still ongoing dynastic run Youth Andre Tippett Jerseys , but Sunday’s 27-24 defeat at the hands of the Miami Dolphins certainly ranks high on that list. Not only did the Patriots play at home against a 16-point underdog that had won just four games heading into the contest, they also were treating it as essentially a playoff matchup with a first-round postseason bye being on the line. However, the team came out flat on both sides of the ball and eventually surrendered the game-deciding touchdown with under 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Now, the reigning world champions will have to prepare for wild card weekend for the first time since January 2010, and to go the distance if they want to defend their Super Bowl title. Needless to say that it won’t be easy, especially when looking at New England’s performance against Miami. But despite their tough loss, the Patriots are still trying to turn the page quickly and look ahead at the challenges that await over the next few days and with a game against the sixth-seeded team in the AFC — likely the Tennessee Titans — on the horizon. The chorus that was sung by the players in the locker room and at the podium after Sunday’s defeat was therefore one of cautious optimism and much-needed focus.“We’ve got a game next week, we’ve got to get ready to go,” said safety Devin McCourty. “Nobody feels sorry for us, we shouldn’t feel sorry for ourselves. Our goal is to play in the playoffs. We’ve got a shot next week at all of that. Disappointed Andre Tippett Jerseys Stitched , wanted to play better, wanted to win today, but we didn’t. We’ve got to move forward and get ready to go or the end of our season will be next week if we don’t turn the page and play good football, way better than today.”“The confidence is never going to go away,” running back Rex Burkhead added. “We know what we have, we know the talent — talent can only take you so far, but we know what we have. We know what we’re capable of. The guys on this team, a lot of them have been through it before so we just have to get that juice back and hopefully we will have a good week of preparation this week.”Week 17: Patriots vs DolphinsPhoto by Billie Weiss/Getty ImagesPatriots vs Dolphins recap: 27-24 loss costs New England a first-round playoff byeInstant analysis from Patriots’ 27-24 loss to DolphinsBill Belichick explains why the Patriots ran out the clock to end the first half against the DolphinsPatriots vs Dolphins: Watch the Pats Pulpit Postgame Show live!New England certainly will need a good week heading into its playoff opener. After the team played arguably its best game of the season in Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills, it came out flat versus Miami and quickly found itself down 10-0 before eventually fighting back into the contest and coming close to pulling out the victory. In the end, however Youth Tedy Bruschi Jerseys , the Dolphins made more plays and eventually played spoiler to the Patriots’ hopes of earning a first-round bye.The Patriots know, however, that they have to play with the hand they have been dealt (or, to a certain degree, dealt themselves) as running back James White pointed out during his postgame press conference: “I don’t think it is any more difficult [without the first-round bye]. You just have to go out there and play football. It’s one extra game if you make it to where you want to be. We just have to go out there and play hard.”“Here in New England we’re a little bit spoiled with having byes yearly,” added special teamer and team captain Matthew Slater. “But look, we’re blessed to be in the playoffs. We should be excited about that. We should look forward to our opportunity and try to seize the opportunity, because the reality is there are guys on this team who may never see the playoffs again for the rest of their careers. So, we need to make this opportunity count.”“It starts by having a good day tomorrow and trying to stack them together, and the next time we play we can play our best football Tedy Bruschi Jerseys Stitched ,” Slater continued. “Certainly it is a different situation, but it is important for us to have the proper perspective. We have been very blessed to have the type of season we have had and being in the playoffs. A lot of teams don’t get that opportunity. Would it have been nice to have the bye? But now we don’t have one.”As Slater pointed out, the Patriots have been spoiled with success over the last few years. Last year, for example, they earned the second seed in the AFC despite winning one fewer game during the regular season. This year, they enter the playoffs with a 12-4 record but without a first-round bye. Even though the situation is different from 2018 and the eight seasons that preceded it, New England’s focus is on itself and trying to improve heading into do-or-die territory.“We have to do everything in our power to recover and prepare and be excited about our opportunity. Let’s not mope around and feel sorry for ourselves, we are in the playoffs. Our team has worked hard and we should be appreciative of where we are,” said Slater. “When we leave here today this game is over with: we put it behind us and focus on the next challenge. You can’t allow something like this to stick with you.”“You never like to lose a game, it is what it is Youth Steve Grogan Jerseys , but I think we need to look forward and embrace our opportunity and make sure we do everything in our power to seize the opportunity that we have and make the most of it,” the 34-year-old continued before speaking about the character of this 2019 Patriots team and how it will be tested with a difficult path to another championship ahead.“This is a high-character football team, we have a lot of good men on this team,” Slater said. “That’s certainly something that doesn’t get talked about enough. I think the character of the men in this locker room has carried us for a number of years, and it continues to carry us. We’re going to have to fall back on that now and we’ll have to fight. Every team in the playoffs is going to be fighting for the same thing, and we’re no different than anybody else.”

Henderson/Getty Images“Confidence imparts a wonderful inspiration on its possessor.” — John Milton. To play in the NFL you must have plenty of confidence. Laced with just enough doubt that if you don’t work harder than anyone, that confidence will not lead to anything. There’s no question the Raiders defense is coming off a rough season. It was historically bad, in fact, and the pass defense was the main culprit.Much of the blame seems to have fallen on the secondary for those issues, even though it was the non-existent pass rush that should probably shoulder the bulk of the blame.Late last season former top pick Gareon Conley started to come into his own. Starting across from him was Daryl Worley who spent the first six games of the season suspended for an offseason DUI arrest while with the Eagles. The kind of season they had overall lends little to be confident about, but the strong finish has Worley seeing he and Conley as taking big leaps this season. The two have been living together and everything and Worley thinks that will make them better teammates on the field. I asked him if he thinks he and Conley have the ability to be mentioned among some of the legendary Raiders duos. His answer “Yes, definitely.”“That’s something Coach Gruden has been emphasizing to us this year,” Worley continued. “We are at that point in our careers where it’s the prime and for our team to thrive we feel as if we have to be playing at the highest clip as well.”Any self-respecting Raiders fan knows that’s setting a high bar. The Raiders have perhaps the richest history of great cornerback play in the league. The first legendary duo was Kent McCloughan and Dave Grayson in the late 60s. They passed the torch to Willie Brown and Skip Thomas in the 70s, leading to the Raiders’ first Super Bowl win. That iconic secondary was followed by perhaps the best Raiders duo of all time — Lester Hayes and Mike Haynes in the 80s, leading to two more Super Bowl wins. Then it was Lionel Washington and Terry McDaniel in the 90s, Charles Woodson and Eric Allen/Tory James in the late 90s and early 2000s and Nnamdi Asomugha and Stanford Routt in the late 2000s.Conley and Worley are being entrusted with the two starting jobs in Oakland this season. If it works out, Worley could receive a long term deal and they could be a pair for many years to come. If not, second round rookie Trayvon Mullen will have to be the next to take a crack at it.Follow @LeviDamien Derek Carr's No. 1 receiver has been traded just weeks after the Oakland Raiders dealt away another cornerstone player in Khalil Mack. Carr has just one win, has struggled to adjust to coach Jon Gruden's offense and has taken more of a physical beating than he has at any time during his five-year career. As if that wasn't enough, he also has had to deal with reports that unidentified teammates have lost faith in him and his toughness has been questioned."I don't pay that any mind," Carr said Wednesday. "Just go talk to those guys. If they don't want to put their name on it, I am going to leave it as what it is. It's nothing to me. If they want to come say it to my locker, I've had plenty of tough discussions standing right here with teammates. Those are some of the guys that texted me yesterday, saying https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , 'Don't worry about this bull.' That kind of stuff. I can't tell you how many texts I got from former teammates, teammates I have now and all of these things that when you're losing, (bad stuff) happens."Tight end Lee Smith gave a long statement defending Carr in what was otherwise a mostly empty locker room during the open media period. He called a recent report that the locker room is fractured over Carr "comical and laughable" and said Carr remains the leader of this team.Smith said it's a "joke" that Carr has to deal with this criticism, including that it looked like he was crying after injuring his left arm in a loss to Seattle in London on Oct. 14."He's a human being," Smith said. "We're human beings. We're not robots. He has a 1-5 record as a starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders. That's hard enough on him. Much less him worrying about his two sons happening to see an article that he's not tough. It's ridiculous. Of course it would bother him. He's human."Carr's play has also not lived up to expectations as he has been hurt by a banged-up offensive line that got him sacked six times in the loss to the Seahawks.Carr has thrown more interceptions (eight) than touchdown passes (seven) so far this season and was unable to get the ball downfield at all in the game against the Seahawks when he threw just one pass more than 10 yards downfield and gained 140 of his 142 yards after the catch."I think Carr is going to be fine," Gruden said. "We have a lot of moving pieces now on offense. It's tough on a quarterback. In the first year of a system it's doubly tough. I'm going to keep supporting him. I know I believe in him. I know he's going to be a great player. You watch and see, he'll play just fine on Sunday."A season that began with optimism with the return of Gruden as coach has gone off the rails quickly. The team traded Mack to Chicago just over a week before the start of the season for a package of draft picks and then dealt Cooper to Dallas on Monday for another first-round pick. The trades give the Raiders three first-round picks in 2019 and two more the following year but none of that will help win games now for the players still here. The Raiders (1-5) have been outscored 53-13 in losing their past two games and have been accused of tanking the season because they traded Cooper and Mack."I feel like we've had to do this a couple of times in my early five years," Carr said. "That part is hard. At the same time, it doesn't change my mindset, you guys know that. Good things, bad things, it doesn't change who I am and how I work. I still have a job to do. It's going to be harder without Coop, it's going to be harder without Khalil, we knew that. It's not going to make it easier, especially for us, for a quarterback and things like that. But that's no excuse. We need to go perform and we need to go win games and that's my mindset."NOTES: LG Kelechi Osemele has not returned to practice from a knee injury that has sidelined him the past two weeks and his status for this week remains in doubt. ... The Houston Texans have put their 0-3 start behind them Dan Marino Jersey , winning four straight games capped by Sunday’s victory over the Jaguars to move into first place in the AFC South. But they won’t have much time to celebrate their recent success with the Dolphins coming to town on Thursday night.“We got a lot to prove,” safety Tyrann Mathieu said. “Anytime you win four games in a row you set a standard for yourself. I think it’s a standard that we’ll have to live up to, especially since it’s a short week.“Miami is a hot team, so we have big challenge coming Thursday. We have to get over this game. It was a big game and a big win, but we have to get over it quickly.”Coach Bill O’Brien knows that most people wrote his team off after its terrible start, but he insists he never doubted that he had a good team which could turn things around.“I knew that the team had the resolve to be able to really take the cliche of one day at a time, one play at a time, really take that to heart and make it work Bob Griese Jersey ,” he said. “Those are clichés unless you actually make them work, and this is the type of team we have. We have a mentally tough team.”Quarterback Deshaun Watson agreed with his coach, but was quick to point out that they still have a lot of work to do.“We were down and out, and everybody was counting us out,” Watson said. “The thing is we have guys on this team who understand that early on it doesn’t matter. We just put our heads down and kept working and now we have to continue to do the same thing.”Houston’s first three wins in this streak were close games, with two of them coming in overtime. But on Sunday against the Jaguars, the Texans jumped out to a 20-0 lead and came away with a 20-7 win on a day they forced three turnovers.Another key to Houston’s win over Jacksonville was success in the red zone. After struggling in the area all season, the Texans scored a touchdown on two of their three trips inside the 20-yard line on Sunday to roll to the easy win.Despite Watson’s solid play in the win on Sunday Minkah Fitzpatrick Jersey , the Texans faced more questions about his health after it was revealed that he made the 800-mile trip from Houston to Jacksonville by bus because they were worried about how air pressure from flying would affect his bruised lung and injured ribs.O’Brien wouldn’t provide any more details on Monday about why he took the bus, but said that he didn’t expect his travel to be impacted by his injury in the future. While Watson continues to grow into his position and hopefully become the franchise quarterback the Texans have long searched for, on Thursday they’ll face the player they once thought would fill that role in Brock Osweiler.Signed before this season to be Ryan Tannehill‘s backup, Osweiler will start his third straight game on Thursday night with Tannehill still out with a shoulder injury. It will be an interesting matchup considering Osweiler’s history with the Texans. Houston signed him to a $72 million contract before the 2016 season, but he was benched before the year was over and shipped to Cleveland before the next season.Though he struggled during his time with the Texans, O’Brien has been impressed with his work in the past two weeks where he’s thrown for 619 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions.“They’re doing a great job with him,” O’Brien said. “Brock’s a very talented player and he’s a having a really good year right now for them. He’s doing a real good job.” MIAMI (AP) — Even though Frank Gore’s ironman streak is about to end, he wants to keep going. The injured Miami Dolphins running back has decided against retirement and hopes to play a 15th NFL season next year Kenny Stills Jersey , a person familiar with the situation said Friday. The person confirmed the decision to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because Gore had not commented publicly. The NFL’s leading active rusher suffered a season-ending sprained foot last week against Minnesota , but the injury won’t require surgery. The 35-year-old Gore has played in 126 consecutive games with 122 starts in a row. Those streaks are the longest by an NFL offensive skill player, and they’ll end Sunday when Miami plays Jacksonville .Last week Gore said he was uncertain whether he wanted to play next year. He signed a one-year contract in March with the Dolphins, and another season with his hometown team is a possibility.“We’ll sit down after the season is over. We’re not in a rush right now,” coach Adam Gase said. “There were times in the season where I could tell he’s not ready to be close to it being done. We’ll sit down and talk about everything and figure it out.”Gore leads the Dolphins with 722 yards rushing, and his average of 4.6 yards per carry is his highest since 2012. He went on injured reserve Wednesday.“It’s disappointing considering the amount of games, the amount of starts that he’s had in a row,” Gase said. “I wish he could’ve finished this out.”Gore is fourth on the NFL’s all-time rushing list with 14 Reshad Jones Jersey ,748 yards, and fifth in yards from scrimmage. Since turning 32 in 2015, he’s the league’s fifth-leading rusher.“He’s a special person; he’s a special player,” Gase said. “It’s hard to find somebody that’s really done anything comparable to him, especially the way football is now and how he’s run early in his career. To last this long and then to produce the way he has at this age is just something you just probably won’t ever see again.”
Antonio Brown became a Patriot on Monday. On Monday night Akeem Spence Jersey , Tom Brady discussed with Jim Gray of Westwood One whether and to what extent Brown can contribute right away.“That’s definitely a challenge, that’s just the time of the year and we are going to deal with those from now to the end of the season,” Brady told Gray. “We are just going to deal with those the best way we can. You’d love to have a training camp or an offseason to learn, but that’s just not our reality and we are going to do the best we can possibly do with the time that we have.”To get Brown ready, Brady will help accelerate the learning curve.“Yeah, you know we’re going to meet as much as we possibly can Christian Wilkins Miami Dolphins Jerseys ,” Brady said. “I think that quarterback-receiver relationship is so important. The more you know each other the more you know what each other’s thinking, the faster you can accelerate the trust and confidence in one another when you get on the field. I have that with a lot of guys that I played with certainly with the guys that are on the roster now, Julian [Edelman], Phillip Dorsett, Josh [Gordon]. You saw that last night. But when you haven’t played with guys, you got to try to do it as quickly as possible Christian Wilkins white jersey , and the clock is ticking on us right now. This is not the offseason program. This is about real games that count and we are going to try and spend as much time as we can together and really get up to speed and lock in with what our roles and responsibilities are.”Brady is entering this new relationship with a blank slate, despite Brown’s various antics.“You don’t judge anything,” Brady said. “I’m not judging anything before I have a chance to go out and practice and prepare. You know, Antonio, meeting him today I really enjoyed being around him, he’s a very smart football player Christian Wilkins Jersey Womens , knows how to play the game. He’s been extremely productive. The only thing that I know what we can do is to go out there and work at it to meet and to communicate and get on the practice field and go through things. I’m not buying into any hype or potential. I’m into work. He’s into work and our entire offense is into doing what’s in the best interest for the team and I’m really excited to get to practice on Wednesday. That’s when Brown will first be on the field with Brady. And that’s when the Patriots will first begin to decide whether Brown will be able to go when the Patriots face the Dolphins in Week Two. Adam Gase is preparing for his fourth season as an AFC East head coach and one of his top goals remains the same despite making the move from the Dolphins to the Jets in January.Linebacker C.J. Mosley spoke to reporters on Wednesday and shared some of Gase’s first message to his players. The part he shared dealt with Gase’s desire to knock the Patriots off the perch they’ve enjoyed for the last two decades.Mosley said Gase told the team “that’s one of the main reasons he came here” and Mosley said that the feeling inside the organization is that they “have the tools, the players and the game plan” to mount a challenge to the reigning Super Bowl champs.“He came here to win,” Mosley said, via the . “At the end of the day, history shows who we have to beat to get to that top spot. Not overlooking anybody else in the division definitely or anybody else on our schedule, but we know if you want to get to where we got to be Christian Wilkins Jersey Cheap , we know what chair we got to knock off.”Several Jets head coaches have had the chance to try to topple the Patriots. Some have said they aren’t going to kiss Bill Belichick’s rings while others have treated games against New England as no different than the rest of the schedule, but none have hit on the formula to actually make it happen.

Now, the bill’s due.Los Angeles Rams HC Sean McVay congratulates QB Jared Goff and RB Todd Gurley after a touchdown against Washington, Sep. 17, 2017.Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY SportsOver the last two offseasons, the Los Angeles Rams have been unusually aggressive in taking advantage of some of their most important players being on inexpensive rookie deals by trading for talented but unwanted pieces and exploiting the available cap space those rookie deals created. That aggression allowed the Rams to go all-in on an effort to build a Super Bowl-caliber roster. That roster got them to the Super Bowl. Hard to be upset. But now, the cost of that deal is coming due Los Angeles Rams Jerseys Stitched , and it’s coming due in two forms. One of those is in terms of draft picks and the deficit the Rams have built up over the last four years both in moving up in the draft but also in packaging draft picks in moves that brought in talented, though temporary, roster upgrades. That, coupled with the wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide group of role players on expiring deals, means the Rams are in the precarious situation of losing much of the middle third of their roster. While that doesn’t grab the attention (or money) of the top end of the roster, it’s nearly as important on the field. But the other cost of that aggression is much more quantifiable. And it’s in the form of a couple of players that will cost the Rams much, much (, much, much) more in 2019 than it did a year ago.It comes down Nicholas Scott Jersey nfl draft , largely, to five players: WR Brandin Cooks, DL Aaron Donald, LT Andrew Whitworth, CB Marcus Peters and RT Rob Havenstein. I’ll throw in RB Todd Gurley for the purposes of rounding-friendly figures, but it’s mostly about that quintet. As a six-man group, those six players will cost the Rams more than $40m in 2019 than they did in 2018. To be specific using numbers from Over The Cap, they’ll cost $41,095 Big And Tall Nicholas Scott Jersey ,577. If you’re wondering why the Rams are so cavalier about letting LG Rodger Saffold III, DL Ndamukong Suh, S Lamarcus Joyner and EDGE Dante Fowler, Jr., hit the market, that’s your easy answer. They picked the former over the latter.2018-19 LA Rams key contract increasesPOSPlayer20182019DifferencePOSPlayer20182019DifferenceThat’s not a decision deserving criticism by any means. A plurality of teams, if not a majority, would love to have that six-man group the Rams are bringing back in 2019. And Whitworth’s return from the precipice of retirement was met with celebration for a reason. It just comes at a cost.So while Rams fans can lament that the team has little wiggle room to address burgeoning needs across the defense and offensive line, the simple reason why is that the Rams have locked in a functioning core that has helped them win the NFC West the last two seasons and led them to a Super Bowl appearance just a month ago.If you’re gonna spend money From China Nicholas Scott Jersey , you might as well spend it wisely. Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton has a new gig. The Atlanta Falcons announced Sutton as their new senior assistant via their official Twitter account on Monday. The Falcons fired Marquand Manuel from his defensive coordinator position this offseason Eric Fisher Jersey , and head coach Dan Quinn announced he would be filling the role himself. The 68-year-old Sutton has been hired to help. The statement also notes that the role had been given to former Falcons assistant Kyle Flood, but it became available again when Flood left Atlanta for the University of Alabama.Quinn worked under Sutton as the New York Jets defensive line coach from 2007-08. Sutton was the Jets defensive coordinator at the time. Many Chiefs fans grew tired of Sutton this past season as the defense mightily struggled while the team arguably boasted the best offense in the league. With the Chiefs making it all the way to the AFC title game, Sutton was fired late in the offseason hiring period, so most top roles had been filled. It is good to see him land on his feet, and here’s to hoping he finds success in Atlanta. Lee had been up and down regarding how he was perceived by the Jets, and it was almost a certainty he would be shipped out after the team fired Todd Bowles. Many fans and analyst alike pinned the Chiefs as a team to target a linebacker in the 2019 NFL Draft and came away surprised when all they did was bring in undrafted free agents. As it turned out, the Chiefs were attempting to address the position with a player considered a top-50 talent by most just a few years ago.Lee had his struggles adjusting to the NFL and the Jets’ 3-4 scheme but showed vast improvement last year before his suspension (violating the league’s substance abuse policy). Rather than just taking the hype around his improvement at face value, let’s head down go the AP Laboratory and work through some film. Don’t mind the empty coffee cups Demetrius Harris Jersey , Thai food containers and clutter; Craig Stout and I have begun the long, deep dive in Steve Spagnuolo’s defense, which means we have been locked down here for the last few days.LB Darron Lee (Ohio State)Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY SportsAthleticismAthleticism has slowly crept its way into a primary trait for an NFL linebacker. Whether it’s showcased in the passing game or the ability to get outside on running plays, speed and mental processing are valued pretty similarly at the linebacker position. Lee stands out as an athlete on the field given his size. Playing around 230 pounds, he’s still not a big linebacker, but he’s also not massively undersized for the NFL anymore and his movement skills easily make up for his lack of size. The ability to get out into the flats while not being behind on the play was something the Chiefs’ linebackers struggled with during 2018 (not specifically on screen plays but simply trying to read the play, then drive on flat/curl zones often resulted in lateness or having to take an extremely passive angle to get to the ball). Lee does not have that issue, as can be seen above. Even on a disguised screen that is designed to buy blockers time, it still results in him beating over half of the wall to the spot and knifing between them. Even the athleticism to make this tackle while moving full speed between players has to be applauded. That athleticism shows up beyond just closing on underneath passes but also in the running game. The 4.47 speed allows Lee not only to cross formations and get to wide gaps opposite of him but also react and match running backs working to the sideline. Working into the C-gap on this play, Lee approached the block with proper technique and can disengage and win the foot race to the edge.Run defenseWidely considered the worst part of his game, Lee took a big leap in his third year as a run defender. He’s always been capable as a back-side, chase defender Cameron Erving Jersey , but he improved his ability to read plays and attack blocks. Working from the back side of the formation, Lee can identify the zone run quickly and immediately attack. Lee has to mirror the running back all the way, making sure he doesn’t lose him on a back-side cut, but as soon as he sees the running back commit, he can attack. As soon as the running back is past the Jets’ 3-Tech (play-side defensive tackle) that back-side cut is no longer an option, and Lee can explode through the open gap. He closes on the running back before he can even attempt to put his foot in the ground and drive up the field.Working as the strong-side linebacker in the nickel on this play, Lee is again able to quickly identify the run play and attack. The Jets’ defensive linemen do a great job keeping their blockers, but Lee is occupying his gap by the time the running back even gets the ball. There is a slight hesitation from Lee due to the potential read option, and that does show up at times. Lee is an extremely athletic player that has made his college and pro career on being able to react and outperform other players thanks to athleticism. Sometimes, that still leaks out in his play, as he glances at eye candy that isn’t his direct responsibility. He showed improvement in this area during the 2018 season, but there are still some instances on film that bleed through. The other major area of improvement for Lee was his ability to handle blockers near the line of scrimmage (LoS). Lee still isn’t the biggest or strongest player Reggie Ragland Jersey , but he has shown the willingness to meet blocks head on successfully. On this play Lee slips the first climbing blocker, then engages the pulling offensive guard with his outside shoulder, allowing him to affect an inside cut. He then catches the second pulling player and is now occupying two blockers in the middle of the hole.Lee isn’t going to be a banger in the middle of a defense—he too often gets swallowed up by blocks when he’s still flat-footed or just starting to move, but he takes them on well in space. Lee’s speed to the edge is impressive, and he’s able to convert his speed to power and create separation from the block. CoverageLee’s bread and butter comes in coverage. It’s where his athleticism, mental processing and zone eyes meet. The ability to fluidly work through potential receivers working in Lee’s zone isn’t easy for a lot of linebackers to pull off, let alone to reroute the first receiver and still break underneath the second. He approaches the bunch set appropriately, works through the first receiver in his zone, and then can drive on the ball on the third route.Lee processes plays in front of him exceptionally well, and his ability to get to proper set points in his zone drops and feel receivers behind him are both equally as impressive. He can accomplish all of that without taking his eyes off the quarterback or cheating up on other routes. Lee does a good job feeling the seam route trying to bend in behind him and mirroring the quarterback’s eyes, which allows him to show off more ball skills.Lee is a combination of athleticism, zones eyes and general feel for routes all wrapped into one. After showing the A-gap pressure Jarvis Jenkins Jersey , pre- and post-snap, he’s got the speed to get on top of the tight end within 5 yards to bump him. Then, without having to eye the tight end, he just settles in underneath his in-cut. Teaching zone skills Lee routinely shows doesn’t happen.Pass rushTo briefly address the concept of Lee playing the base strong-side linebacker, or SAM—it’s just not what he does best. He’s not at his best playing at or near the line of scrimmage and dealing with blockers regulary. While Lee does offer some ability to rush off the edge, based upon his speed and flexibility, he doesn’t have a true rush plan. Lee is better as a blitzer than a true rusher, but his explosion and flexibility give him value there. Coming into a defense run by Spagnuolo, linebackers coach Matt House and defensive line coach Brendan Daly, the odds are he will be blitzing at a decent clip and in situations which highlight his athleticism. The bottom lineJust like any player that you can land with a day-three draft pick, Lee is far from a perfect player. He still has some mental processing issues that keep him from focusing on his assignment completely and isn’t built to bang between the tackles. That said, the upside is plentiful.Lee has a rare feel for coverage Daniel Sorensen Jersey , some from his time at Ohio State—when he was used, essentially, as a large slot defensive back—that allows him to be a major matchup weapon. Combining his athleticism and improving read-and-react skills makes him, at minimum, a quality coverage linebacker. There is a strong chance he pushes for starting reps given what the top-end play looks like and the ability to be such an impact player against the pass.House and Spagnuolo have both had unique and exotic schemes for their linebackers recently. Using them on blitzes, in coverage and putting them in the best spot for them to succeed is something they’ve been able to do routinely.Lee is a player whose strengths align very well with the modern NFL, so it’s exciting to think about what they will be able to work up for him in this new Chiefs defense.
Brown will sign massive 4-year Joejuan Williams Jersey Boys , $66 million contract with Raiders."The NFL’s legal tampering window is not even open for an hour but already saw the New England Patriots lose one of their starting players: left tackle Trent Brown will sign a four-year, $66 million contract with the Oakland Raiders once free agency officially opens on Wednesday. Based on the reported per-year average, the deal is the largest for an offensive tackle in NFL history. Let’s find out what this means from New England’s perspective.Tom Brady loses his blindside protector in back-to-back yearsBetween him becoming the Patriots’ starter and last offseason, Tom Brady played behind only two left tackles: Matt Light held down the fort from 2001 through 2011, with Nate Solder protecting his blindside from 2012 to 2017. While injuries caused some in-season movements, of course, the left tackle spot was as stable a position as any on New England’s roster year-in and year-out. Now, however, the Patriots see the spot left vacant for the second straight year: Solder left last offseason, his successor is leaving this year.Isaiah Wynn is the front-runner to take over at left tackleWith Trent Brown no longer in New England, the road is now clear for the Patriots’ 2018 first-round selection to take over as the starting left tackle. Isaiah Wynn, of course, looked promising last offseason before injuring his Achilles during the second week of preseason. But even though he has yet to appear in an NFL game at left tackle and is coming off major injury Youth Irving Fryar Jerseys , the 23-year-old will get every chance to earn the starting role. After all, he brings experience — a year in New England’s system plus a first-team All-SEC senior season at Georgia — as well as plenty of upside to the table.Dante Scarnecchia’s legend keeps growingIt is no secret that Dante Scarnecchia is the NFL’s best offensive line coach. However, seeing two of his students earn record-breaking contracts in back-to-back years still further adds to his already impressive r茅sum茅. The question, of course, will now be how Brown fares in a new environment and under Raiders line coach Tom Cable. The aforementioned Nate Solder, of course, was inconsistent for the Giants in 2018 — it will be interesting to see if Brown fares better in Oakland. Meanwhile, Scarencchia will do what he has always done: groom Wynn and turn him into a starting-caliber NFL tackle. The Patriots will get another high compensatory pick next yearIn 2018, the Patriots lost starting left tackle Nate Solder to a record-breaking contract offer from the New York Giants. In 2019, they will lose Trent Brown to a record-breaking contract offer from the Raiders. The outcome, from New England’s perspective, is the same both times: the club needs a new left tackle and also get another high draft pick through the NFL’s compensatory formula. In all likelihood, that pick will again come at the end of the third round in the 2020 draft. The rich keep getting richer Irving Fryar Jerseys Stitched , even when losing free agents. The Rams were in the house and they were finally going to test themselves against a world class team. One of the storylines of the first part of Raiders’ camp is how great Tyrell Williams and Derek Carr look. Then they faced the Rams aaaand not so much.Right from the first snap, Carr went to the well, sending Williams deep and putting the ball in the air for him. And there was Aqib Talib to pick it off. Talib knows Carr well.Carr has had to face him at least once per season in his five-year career. The first four were as a member of the rival broncos, which means usually he faced him twice. Last year as a member of the Rams. Carr didn’t fool the All Pro and five-time Pro Bowler.“The first play I jacked the ball up really to set the tone and you hope to come down with it and they make the play,” said Carr. “That kind of stuff is going to happen. It’s not alarming to anyone in the meeting room but there are stuff that we need to correct off the film and need to do better.”Needless to say, Carr was not able to set the tone early. Talib snatched away that tone like it was a gold chain around Michael Crabtree’s neck.As it happens, on the final play of scrimmages, Carr and Williams would try again to hook up on a bomb. This time Williams got behind Nickell Roby-Coleman and Carr found him... but he dropped it.Those two plays bookended a lackluster day for an offense which is still without top target Antonio Brown and number one tight end Darren Waller. “We got a couple guys that are out, but that’s next guy up,” Carr said. “When that happens we got to have our best guys be our best guys. That gets tough when people are taking them away in practice and things like that. Definitely that will be a recurring theme in every practice.”For the defense’s part, there were some positive signs. Though not many.Rams starting quarterback Jared Goff carved them up for the most part. There were only a handful of passes defensed from the Raiders. One came from Johnathan Abram on a deep shot for tight end Gerald Everett. Another was Gareon Conley who knocked down a deep shot up the right sideline for tight end Tyler Higbee. Defensive backs making plays on tight ends isn’t really a great accomplishment. Even though for the Raiders it might be.Lamarcus Joyner made a play against his former team. Goff stood in the pocket so long, the play would have been over long before that, so it wouldn’t have counted anyway, but Joyner didn’t give up on it. He stuck with Brandin Cooks the whole way and when Goff tried to connect with his speedy receiver, Joyner knocked it down Then stood and smiled at Cooks as if to say ‘remember me?’ And that was about it for the positives. Two of the biggest plays of the day for the Rams, the Raiders were so out of position, it was impossible to tell who was supposed to be there. Both resulted in wide open catches and long touchdowns up the left sideline.Trayvon Mullen gave up a long catch to Michael Thomas Antonio Brown Jersey White , Curtis Riley gave up a touchdown catch at the right pylon to Robert Woods, Karl Joseph gave up a touchdown in the back of the end zone to Gerald Everett — though that was a brilliant throw by Goff —, Gareon Conley gave up a long catch on a slant to Robert Woods, and Nicholas Morrow gave up a long catch and run to tight end Johnny Mundt.Despite the struggles, Abram thinks they did some good things.“Pretty much that we can play with anybody,” Abram said of what they showed today. “That’s one thing I’ll say is we can play with anybody. If we can go against one of the best offenses in the league and go out there and compete the way we did, then we can compete with anybody.”There were plays the Raiders defenders made, but most were with Blake Bortles in at quarterback. The Raiders secondary is supposed to be much improved this season. Though no one really expects them to be able to go blow for blow with one of the top offenses in the league, you hope they would have made more plays. One more day to make corrections on both sides of the ball and come out of this feeling better about themselves.Defensive play of the dayTahir Whitehead and Erik Harris were both flying around making plays. Whitehead came up to make the stop on Brandin Cooks for a loss on an end around. Then a few plays later he was there to chase down Malolm Brown on a run that was stretched out wide.Harris had a play where he came around the edge to make a stop on a run play. Another play he blitzed up the gut and got his hands up to bat down a Bortles pass attempt. And he broke up a pass from Bortles to tight end Gerald Everett in the back left corner of the end zone.Catch of the dayNot much to report here. The best play probable came on a bubble screen to Hunter Renfrow which he took and streaked up the sideline for about 25 yards.InjuriesAntonio Brown (feet), Darren Waller (shoulder), Gabe Wright (knee), Eddie Vanderdoes (concussion). PUP: Denzelle Good (back). NFI: Keith Smith (knee).Follow @LeviDamien GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — It’s not exactly a clash of titans at State Farm Stadium on Sunday. The Oakland Raiders, with the NFL’s worst record at 1-8, drag a five-game losing streak into their game with the Arizona Cardinals, who at 2-7 are tied for the third-worst record in the league. Both teams look at this as a game they realistically can win, while a loss will make a bad season much uglier. It’s a matchup of first-year coaches with Jon Gruden in Oakland and Steve Wilks in Arizona. It has been a bumpy ride for both.“They’re going to be ready. This is the National Football League Bo Jackson Jersey White , and I told the guys this morning that you can throw the record out the window,” Wilks said. “These guys are coming here to win a football game. They’re down. They need a win just like we need one. So, we better make sure that we’re prepared and ready to play.”Gruden knows there are those who believe his team is “tanking” to get a high pick in next year’s draft.“If you pay attention to that stuff, anybody that says that, I don’t agree with, but I can’t control what’s out there,” he said. “We’ve had to make some tough decisions, and everybody’s going to have their own opinion, but I know what the reality is. I know what the truth is, and we’re doing everything that we feel like is in the best interest of the Raiders, not only for this year, but for the future.“When you’re the head coach, you’re going to take criticism, and that’s just the way it is.”Arizona’s offense showed some life after Wilks fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and elevated Byron Leftwich to the job. In last week’s loss to the Chiefs, Arizona running back David Johnson had a season-best 183 yards from scrimmage, 98 rushing and 85 receiving. He scored both Cardinals touchdowns. Here are some things to consider when the Raiders come to the desert:FITZGERALD AGAINArizona’s Larry Fitzgerald is closing in on yet another milestone. He needs eight receptions to break Jerry Rice’s NFL record for the most catches with one team. Fitzgerald has played all 15 of his seasons with the Cardinals. In last week’s loss against Kansas City, he moved past Terrell Owens into second on the NFL’s career list for yards receiving.REPLACEMENT RECEIVERSThe Raiders traded No. 1 receiver Amari Cooper last month and then lost two more receivers to injuries last week. Martavis Bryant will be out for at least a few weeks with an injured knee and Jordy Nelson is questionable this week with a knee injury.Rookie Marcell Ateman https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , who has been on the practice squad or inactive all year, will get a chance alongside Brandon LaFell and Seth Roberts. Ateman showed flashes during training camp and hopes that translates this week.“I didn’t take a back seat when I got on the practice squad,” he said. “I kept working so that when I get my opportunity I’m better.”BATTERED ROSENArizona rookie quarterback Josh Rosen took some big hits in the Cardinals’ 26-14 loss to Kansas City last Sunday, operating behind an offensive line that struggled even before losing starting right guard Justin Pugh to a season-ending knee injury.Rosen took the physical punishment in stride, something that impressed Gruden.“He’s showing a lot of mental and physical toughness,” the Oakland coach said. “He has got a great arm, and he’s got a huge upside, I believe.”CAUTIOUS CARRDerek Carr has gone four straight games without throwing an interception for the first time in his five-year career. The problem is that while Carr has avoided the catastrophic mistakes, the big plays have been missing as well.Carr is averaging just 6.8 yards per attempt in that span, down from 8.1 his first five games when he had eight INTs. His sack rate has also more than doubled over the past four games.“We had some turnovers and things like that,” Carr said about taking more shots downfield earlier in the season. “Turning the ball over is worse for our team than me checking the ball down if it’s not completely open.”BLIND SIDEOakland traded down with Arizona on draft day, dropping five spots to No. 15 and gaining a third-round pick in the process. The Cardinals took Rosen, while the Raiders got the left tackle they wanted in Kolton Miller and used the third-round pick to acquire Bryant.Miller has played much of the season on an injured knee and has allowed the most sacks (10) and second-most pressures (39) of any lineman in the league.“I think he’s really learning a lot about this business the hard way,” Gruden said.
The Texans haven’t seen the kind of improvement they hoped to see from their offensive line Womens Martinas Rankin Jersey , but it appears they’ll have left tackle Laremy Tunsil on the field as they try for better results in Los Angeles on Sunday.Tunsil is dealing with an ankle injury that made him a limited participant in practice all week. Word on Friday was that he planned to play and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that’s expected to be the case.Houston traded two first-round picks and a second-round pick to Miami in a deal that brought back Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills. After allowing 62 sacks in 2018, a desire to upgrade the offensive line was the obvious impetus for paying such a heavy price.Through two games, the results haven’t been too good. Deshaun Watson‘s been sacked 10 times and the Texans will need to check Chargers pass rushers Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa this Sunday. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsI’m mad!!!!!!From 2014 to 2018, the Texans employed Shane Lechler as their punter.Lechler is a former All-Pro who will go down as one of the greatest punters of all time. He was cool. The type of man you aspire to be when you are 40 years old. Billy goat gray goatee. Back pocket blue jeans dented and imprinted from hockey pucks of snuff. A liver swirling in yellow belly Banquet original. Floppy Kacey Musgrave hats. Pearl snap shirts and leather bracelets. A real cool guy. He just wasn’t good though. From 2014 to 2018 http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-jon-weeks-jersey , the Texans’ punting unit ranked lost 6.1, 15.1 (31st), 13 (30th), and 10.7 (28th) expected points per season according to Football Outsiders. The Texans’ special teams unit finished in the bottom of the league year after year. No changes were ever made. The punter couldn’t be questioned. Last season, Lechler lost his job to rookie UDFA Trevor Daniel. Lecher was sad and upset about something that should have happened a long time ago. After years of awful punting units Womens Jordan Akins Jersey , the Texans finally changed their punter, and guess what? The punting unit became immediately and substantially better. The Texans’ punting unit added 4.5 expected points last season. Wow. Crazy. Who knew punting the ball as far as you possibly could to the detriment of your coverage team was a bad thing? Yet today Aaron Wilson reported the Texans are bringing in Marquette King for a visit. I have no qualms with King, who is a fine punter. I have qualms with the Texans looking to add competition to a spot that doesn’t need it. Daniel is a second year player. He’s on a cheap deal. He was very good last year and should get better. The Texans still have $41 million in cap space according to Over the Cap, and they are out here looking to push Daniel, instead of Justin Reid Jersey , you know, trying to find interior pass rushing help, or adding a quality pass catching third down back, or flipping the tires on another physical, sideline-dwelling Johnathan Joseph Jersey White , first down snagging wide receiver, or grabbing another cornerback for a room that can use additional talent. The Texans should have added punting competition three years ago.Not this year, not after the season Daniel had. They would be better off looking to improve the roster in different ways than this one.
The Bengals add one of Joe Mixon’s old teammates to their backfield."The Bengals double dipped into the running back class by selecting Oklahoma rusher Rodney Anderson. Anderson joins fellow rookie Trayveon Williams Hardy Nickerson Jersey , longtime Bengals running back, Giovani Bernard, and fellow Sooner running back Joe Mixon in a now stacked Bengals backfield. What Anderson brings to the BengalsPower: Not the Kanye West kind. At 6’1” 219, Anderson has nearly identical proportions to Mixon. This compared to Bernard who is 5’9” 208 and Williams who is 5’9” 200. With Anderson, they now have another back who can run for power if Mixon is injured or in need of a need a breather. This prevents them from being predictable offensively like they were in the Jeremy Hill/Bernard days. Big Plays: Anderson has a knack from breaking big plays. He scored 18 touchdowns on 205 touches in 2017 and is a threat to take it the distance at any time.Multi-Talented Back: In addition to being a skilled rusher, Anderson has the ability to contribute in the pass game. Much like Mixon http://www.thebengalslockerroom.com/authentic-shawn-williams-jersey , he can be flexed out and used as a receiver or make plays on screen passes. Why the Bengals picked AndersonValue: Anderson had a great year in 2017 stepping in the footsteps of Mixon before him, but in 2018, an ACL injury ended his season just as it began. If he was healthy in 2018 and matched his 2017 numbers, he would have never made it this deep into the draft. The Bengals got a great value on a player who could have great value to the franchise.Depth: Zac Taylor saw the struggles that Todd Gurley had as the long NFL season took its toll, so he went out and got a back who shares a lot of similarities with Mixon. Both can run for power, but they thrive due to their patience as zone rushers Womens Dre Kirkpatrick Jersey , and excel as receivers out of the backfield. This will allow the team to spell Mixon from time to time and not see a major drop off or have to change their scheme,Scheme Change: Adding not one, but two running backs in the draft shows that they are valuing depth at the position in a way that they haven’t in the past. This may mean that they are evolving offensively, and we will be seeing multiple backs on the field at once with at least one of them lined up as a receiver. It makes sense because Mixon, Bernard, Williams Darqueze Dennard Jersey , and Anderson are all skilled pass catchers. This would be a big change from years past when they would feature two backs and buried Rex Burkhead deep on the depth chart where he had to wait for Bill Belichick to swoop in and revitalize his career. Hopefully, they will utilize the depth and talent that they now possess at the position, The Bengals went young at head coach, and aren’t straying from that path in their search for a defensive coordinator.According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Bengals have a long list of candidates for their lead defensive job under new coach Zac Taylor.Among the names expected to get interview requests are just-fired former Falcons coordinator Marquand Manuel, Texas A&M coordinator Mike Elko Randy Bullock Jersey White , Florida coordinator Todd Grantham, Saints secondary coach Aaron Glenn, and Rams defensive backs coach Aubrey Pleasant. If you think that’s a list short on experience, you’d be correct. The Bengals spoke to both Jack Del Rio and Dom Capers about the job, but both apparently passed according to multiple reports. That’s possibly a worrying sign for Taylor as he assembles a last-minute staff (yet another reason the league should consider letting new coaches become official before they’re officially official).Taylor’s 35 years old, and has never been a head coach. He hasn’t been an assistant that long (seven years in the NFL). Having a veteran on staff with some knowledge can help Womens Preston Brown Jersey , as Wade Phillips was a good hire for Sean McVay when he was in the same spot with the Rams. But the Bengals apparently either can’t or don’t want to provide Taylor with the same kind of safety net.
Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick knows what it’s like to think that victory is only a few seconds away http://www.cincinnatibengalsteamonline.com/anthony-munoz-jersey , only to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers rally for another improbable win, and run off the field as thousands of their fans twirl towels in the stands. Many of Kirkpatrick’s teammates haven’t been on the sideline for those blow-to-the-gut finishes, which might work to the Bengals‘ advantage on Sunday as they revisit a rivalry that’s more of a horror story for Cincinnati. The Bengals (4-1) have their youngest team in coach Marvin Lewis’ 16 seasons as they get ready to host the Steelers (2-2-1). Nineteen of them are in their first or second season — virtual newcomers to the one-sided series.“It’s kind of good that some of these guys haven’t experienced it because we’re trying to go in with clear minds, clear everything,” Kirkpatrick said. “Just going out there and playing our game and not (remembering) nothing that happened two or three years ago, or last year.”The Steelers know their history.Pittsburgh has won six straight in the series , including an 18-16 victory in the first round of the 2015 playoffs that included an historic meltdown by the Bengals. The Steelers have won nine of 10 and 14 of 17 against their AFC North rival, getting the better of games that have often turned nasty.“Yeah, you get amped up there,” Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree said. “It’s their house. They’re trying to be so tough.”Some of the main figures in the most memorable games are gone. Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict is back after sitting out the first four games on his latest NFL suspension, but cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones left after last season. Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is holding out.“Many of the significant contributors don’t play for us (anymore), they don’t play for them Germaine Pratt Cincinnati Bengals Jersey ,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. Some things to watch Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium:LOPSIDED HISTORYThe Steelers are 24-8 against the Bengals since they hired Marvin Lewis as coach in 2003. They’re 15-2 at Paul Brown Stadium during that span, including playoff wins in the 2005 and 2015 seasons. During their current six-game winning streak against Cincinnati, the Steelers have overcome deficits of 17-3 and 17-0. They have two last-minute wins.SHAZIER BACKSteelers linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a spinal injury at Paul Brown Stadium last Dec. 4 when he lowered his helmet and tackled receiver Josh Malone. Shazier was taken to a local hospital. Ten months later, he’s still recovering and it’s unclear whether he can ever play again. Shazier is on the sideline during games and is expected to be in Cincinnati with his teammates on Sunday.BIG-PLAY BENGALSPittsburgh is known for its tenacious defense, but the Bengals have made some of the biggest plays this season. They’ve returned three turnovers for touchdowns, including an interception and a fumble in the fourth quarter of a 27-17 win over Miami on Sunday. The Bengals’ rotation on the line has kept them fresh for the endings of games.“Guys were really, really getting after it, and it was fun to watch,” coordinator Teryl Austin said. “It makes the game easy to call when you know the guys are going to push the pocket back and get after the quarterback and harass the quarterback.”ALIVE AND KICKINGA year after making the Pro Bowl for the first time, Steelers kicker Chris Boswell is struggling. He missed his third extra point of the season last week against Atlanta, matching his career high. It hasn’t been any easier for Boswell when it comes to field goals, where he is just 3 for 6. Still Germaine Pratt Jersey 2019 , Tomlin remains confident in Boswell, who signed a five-year contract before the season.Boswell has never missed a kick against the Bengals, making all 11 extra-point tries and all 20 field goal attempts, including a pair of last-minute winners at Paul Brown Stadium.“This guy has delivered for us a lot in the last few years, and I do not have amnesia in that regard,” Tomlin said. “He’s gotten me out of that stadium in Cincinnati a few times, and so I look forward to taking him to Cincinnati.”CAMPAIGNING FOR CONNERIt could be Pittsburgh’s final game without Bell, who reportedly will end his standoff and sign a one-year franchise tag next week. Bell’s return could create an issue on how to split carries. James Conner has been solid while filling in. The second-year back is coming off a 185-yard from scrimmage, two-touchdown performance against Atlanta. Ben Roethlisberger believes Conner has done little to earn a demotion.“I think James has done some amazing things and deserves to be on the football field,” Roethlisberger said. “We also know what Le’Veon is and what he brings to the table, so I guess we’ll cross that bridge if and when it happens.”___AP Sports Writer Will Graves contributed to this report.___ CINCINNATI (AP) — Hue Jackson needed only a few weeks to land another job in the place where he's always welcomed. The Bengals hired Jackson on Tuesday as a special assistant to head coach Marvin Lewis as he tries to resurrect Cincinnati's historically bad defense. Jackson was fired by the Cleveland Browns last month after he won only three games in three seasons as head coach. As soon as Cleveland let him go, the Bengals showed an interest in Jackson Color Rush Germaine Pratt Jersey , who begins his third stint with them. In his latest role, he'll help Lewis — a close friend — to try to fix the defense and save the season. Cincinnati (5-4) has lost three of its past four games and is on pace to give up the most yards in a season in NFL history. The Bengals have allowed 500 yards in three straight games, a first for any team in the Super Bowl era. They fired defensive coordinator Teryl Austin on Monday, with Lewis taking over as defensive coordinator in addition to his head coaching duties. Lewis said on Monday that there was a plan to help him do both jobs, but didn't get specific. The Bengals talked to Jackson about becoming Lewis' special assistant, and he readily accepted the position."I have a great comfort level with Hue and his ability to assist me with the day-to-day responsibilities on defense, including analyzing our opponents and helping me on game days with the players and defensive coaches," Lewis said.Lewis hired Jackson in 2004 — his second season in Cincinnati — as receivers coach. He spent three years in the job before moving to the Falcons as offensive coordinator, developing a reputation for creativity. He was the Raiders' offensive coordinator before moving up to head coach in 2011.After his firing in Oakland, he returned to the Bengals in 2012 as a special assistant working with the defensive backs in 2012. He worked with the running backs in 2013 and was promoted to offensive coordinator a year later when Jay Gruden went to Washington. The Bengals had one of their best years on offense in 2015, with Andy Dalton leading the AFC in passer rating. Jackson was hired by the Browns after the seasonBrowns owner Jimmy Haslam fired Jackson after a 33-18 loss in Pittsburgh, Cleveland's 25th consecutive road defeat. Jackson wasn't getting along with offensive coordinator Todd Haley Cheap Germaine Pratt Jersey , who also was fired.Even though Jackson will be working with the defense in his latest incarnation in Cincinnati, it'll create an awkward dynamic. Dalton developed a close relationship with Jackson, who helped him to his greatest success in the NFL. Bill Lazor is in his first full season as the Bengals' offensive coordinator. The offense is missing receiver A.J. Green indefinitely with an injured toe on his right foot. The starting unit managed only one touchdown during a 51-14 loss to the Saints on Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium, even though New Orleans also has one of the league's worst defenses. The Bengals play at Baltimore (4-5) on Sunday, a game that's pivotal for both teams. Pittsburgh (6-2-1) has started pulling away atop the AFC North. The Ravens have lost three straight games, and quarterback Joe Flacco has an injured hip that could keep him out of Sunday's game.Coach John Harbaugh said on Monday that he'll decide later in the week if Flacco can play. If not, rookie Lamar Jackson will likely get his first NFL start. The Bengals haven't won a playoff game since the 1990 season, the sixth-longest streak of postseason futility in NFL history. Lewis is 0-7 in the playoffs, the worst coaching mark in league history.
ATLANTA (AP) — After keeping Tom Brady out of the end zone for three and a half quarters Greg Gaines Jersey nfl draft , the Los Angeles Rams‘ defense finally blinked. In this Super Bowl, that one brief lapse was too much to overcome. Even holding the New England Patriots to one field goal until midway through the fourth quarter wasn’t good enough. For the sixth time in his career, Brady found a way to win the Super Bowl. The Rams defense had done enough to win most games, but the Los Angeles offense didn’t do its part. That gave Brady a chance for one touchdown drive in the fourth quarter, and he delivered.“That’s our role, to disrupt the passer and disrupt the running game,” said Rams defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh following New England’s 13-3 win on Sunday night. “For the most part we did that, but we just didn’t close it out. That’s on us.”The low scoring total in any game with the powerful Patriots was a surprise.“They hardly scored and we were in this game until the end of the fourth quarter,” said linebacker Cory Littleton. “We were doing everything just fine and we just made mistakes at the end and they capitalized.”Littleton helped set the tone for the Rams’ strong defensive game with his first-quarter interception after Brady’s first pass was deflected.“We were in a zone defense Womens Greg Gaines Jersey ,” Littleton said. “I’m a hustle player. I’m reading the quarterback … (Nickell) Robey-Coleman makes a great deflection, ball is in the air and I pick it off.”After being contained most of the game, Brady struck quickly when he suddenly solved the Rams’ defense in the decisive fourth-quarter touchdown drive.Brady completed four straight passes, including 18- and 29-yard strikes to Rob Gronkowski. The last catch set up Sony Michel’s 2-yard scoring run. The game’s only touchdown left the Rams with a deficit they wouldn’t overcome.“It was a hell of a game,” said Rams cornerback Marcus Peters. “We just didn’t get it done.”Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald was frustrated by Brady’s crucial 29-yard pass to Gronkowski.“I had an opportunity there on a one-on-one,” Donald said. “I got off my one-on-one clean. (Brady) was sitting back there and had time to make a good pass. He made a good play.”The Rams held New England to 13 points despite giving up 407 total yards and 22 first downs.“I thought our defense did a nice job, but they were able to make some plays here and there,” said Rams coach Sean McVay, who gave credit to Brady and the Patriots. “You see why they are a great football team.” The Rams traded out of the first round on Thursday night. AAF quarterback Philip Nelson took a page out of Patrick Mahomes’ magic playbook on Sunday night."Patrick Mahomes is changing the game of professional football Khalen Saunders black jersey , and now we have the proof. While the the NBA’s all-stars were flashing their own skills during the league’s showcase game in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday night, AAF quarterback Phillip Nelson of the San Diego Fleet had some tricks of his own that were — dare we say — inspired by Mahomes?Take his no-look pass to Demarcus Robinson against the Baltimore Ravens, for example:...or his left-handed throw to Tyreek Hill while Von Miller dove for his ankles:...and his across-the-body, one-foot toss to Travis Kelce: The examples beg the question...Did Patrick Mahomes make trick shots in football cool? During a Week 2 AAF game between the San Diego Fleet and the Atlanta Legends in San Diego, Nelson appeared to take a page out of Mahomes’ magic playbook when he completed a no-look, behind-the-back, overhead pass to tight end Gavin Escobar (remember him?) — all while being taken down by three players.Sound familiar?Take a look:Is this a challenge? Mahomes can do that Khalen Saunders Jersey Mens , right? Weigh in below. After Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen talked all about his affinity for Andy Reid, the Eagles and his childhood sweatshirt, the rookie quarterback actually had some worthwhile comments that caught my attention when it came to the Kansas City Chiefs defense. The Chiefs give up 427.4 yards per game (No. 31), 302.7 passing yards per game (No. 28) and 124.8 rushing yards per game (No. 25).There is some truth to that, by the numbers, when it comes to the Chiefs’ margin of victory. The Chiefs lead the league in margin of victory, at 11.2 points. The Chiefs have also won their last three games by a league-leading average of 19.3 points. So I asked Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton about Rosen’s thoughts.“The objective in the end is to win,” Sutton said. “That’s kind of what it is. You can’t let your ego get involved. You’re trying to figure out the best way to help your team win this game. You’re only on this game—that’s the only game you can be on and go. And so, you’re playing a lot of different elements in that. You’re playing the opponent Khalen Saunders Jersey nfl draft , sometimes you’re looking at the score or the clock, you’re doing all those things in there. I think there are certain things we still need to do a lot better no matter what the heck the score was.”If you’re wondering, the Chiefs defense gives up 25.1 points per game (No. 19). Sutton continued.Struttin’ Bob Sutton.Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports“A game has all these situations and critical situations that come up throughout the course of a game,” he said. “I really believe if you win enough of those, you’re going to put yourself in position to win the game. Just like the last game (against the Browns), a lot of things happen, but hey, fourth-and-2 in the fourth quarter, there was a big play.”Sutton is referring to the play with 7:55 left in the fourth quarter Eric Murray Jersey , as the Chiefs led 37-21. Out of a timeout, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield lined up in the shotgun. The call was a screen to Duke Johnson short to his left, but Breeland Speaks, Chris Jones and Anthony Hitchens were right there to stop him before the first-down marker.“[The Browns] continue and they get it, it’s a different game,” Sutton said. “The two-point plays are huge plays. They’re either minus a field goal if you look on that side or from their perspective, they’re minus six points. So all those things add up. I’ve never been a big yards guy. I don’t think that really tells the whole thing. I think on defense, it’s first about points. That’s your number one way you can help your team win, so if you limit and reduce points Kendall Fuller Jersey , you really help yourself, and the rest of it is really about the ball. Anything that affects the ball—getting the ball back, takeaways, third downs and reduced points, red zone, all that stuff—to me those are the most important things.”I may get killed for this, but you can see where Rosen and then Sutton have a point. Without their best defensive player in Eric Berry all year, a role player in Daniel Sorensen and adding in an early-season chronic tackling problem, the Chiefs have still managed to be 19th in points against and are 8-1.All you want in your defense is enough to win Sammy Watkins Jersey , and to this point, Sutton and the Chiefs have done that, aside from the game in New England.
Can Harry become the first Patriot to achieve the honor since 1995?"When they drafted N’Keal Harry 32nd overall Womens Chase Winovich Jersey , the New England Patriots added a high-upside pass catcher to provide physicality and playmaking ability on the perimeter — at least that is the ideal outcome of the world champions’ first-round investment. And while it remains to be seen whether or not Harry actually develops that way, oddsmakers appear to be at last somewhat confident in his abilities to become a productive wide receiver.According to recent odds published by BetOnline.ag, Harry is tied for eighth among offensive rookies when it comes to the chances of being named the best among them at the conclusion of the 2019 season. At 16/1, the Arizona State product trails players such as the first overall selection, quarterback Kyler Murray (2.25/1), or the premier tight end to enter the draft, new Detroit Lion T.J. Hockenson (12/1).New England’s offensive players winning rookie of the year honors is a rare occurrence, however. Should Harry take home the trophy at the season’s end Authentic Chase Winovich Jersey , he would become just the fourth Patriot to be named the top offensive rookie in the NFL — and the first since the 1995 season: John Stephens won in 1988, Leonard Russell in 1991, and Curtis Martin four years later. All three players were, of course, running backs. That being said, Harry does not need to be in the conversation for the award all year long to have a positive impact on New England’s offense: with one of the league’s better running games and Julian Edelman still one of the most reliable wideouts in all of football, the Patriots’ first-rounder simply needs to provide a viable alternative target. If he can do that and adequately fill the number two role held by Chris Hogan at the end of the 2018 season, he would have been worth the investment — even without being named rookie of the year. PASADENA Chase Winovich Jersey Boys , Calif. (AP) — The New England Patriots‘ competitive but action-starved Super Bowl victory over the Los Angeles Rams was seen by 100.7 million people on television and streaming services, the smallest audience for football’s annual spectacle in a decade.A boycott by disgruntled New Orleans Saints fans, a campaign by fans of quarterback Colin Kaepernick and a game with only one touchdown combined to shrink the audience. On CBS alone, the game was seen by 98.2 million people, compared to 103.4 million who watched on NBC last year, according to the Nielsen company.Since reaching a peak of 114.4 million viewers for the Patriots’ 2015 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, the Super Bowl audience has slipped each year since. The Super Bowl is traditionally the most-watched television event of the year in the U.S., and its audience hadn’t dipped below 100 million since the Pittsburgh Steelers–Arizona Cardinals game in 2009.CBS dealt with a city that held a major grudge. Many fans in New Orleans Youth Julian Edelman Jerseys , where the hometown Saints were victimized by a blown referee’s call toward the end of its loss to the Rams in the NFC championship, skipped the game entirely. Preliminary ratings from New Orleans showed that Super Bowl viewership this year was half what it was in 2018.New Orleans’ Times Picayune newspaper printed a mostly blank front page on Monday with the words, “Super Bowl?” What Super Bowl?”The newspaper asked, “you think the NFL is sad that the Saints weren’t in it to spice up the night?”There was also a campaign on Twitter by people who said they would not watch the game because of Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback who hasn’t been able to land a job in the NFL since leading demonstrations in protest of police treatment of minorities. After a season of offensive fireworks and conference championships that both went into overtime, Sunday’s game was a defensive struggle where the teams were tied 3-3 entering the fourth quarter. That’s a tough slog for the casual fan, and the Super Bowl draws millions who don’t watch football regularly. At one point CBS commentator Tony Romo said, “this is hard to watch.” Others were blunter still. The website The Ringer said that “the historically boring Super Bowl sent football back to the Stone Age.”Cindy Boren of The Washington Post wrote that it was “a snore of a Super Bowl.” The New York Times headlined a story: “How boring was the Super Bowl? The punts got exciting.”The words “boring” and “Super Bowl” appeared in the same tweets more than 70 Julian Edelman Jerseys Stitched ,000 times in the past 24 hours. The words “worst” and “Super Bowl” were matched more than 50,000 times. If anything, football fans have been spoiled by a string of competitive Super Bowls after many years in which big game blowouts became commonplace. This year the game’s outcome was in doubt until the final seconds, but it had only one touchdown and few scoring threats. The one growth area for CBS was streaming. The network said an average of 2.6 million people streamed the game, up 31 percent over last year.CBS did achieve its goal of having a large audience sample its new talent show, “The World’s Best.” Nielsen said 22.2 million people watched the show’s debut, the most-watched entertainment show since the Oscars last year and the biggest entertainment premiere on TV since “Undercover Boss” debuted after the Super Bowl nine years ago.

Downing-USA TODAY SportsIn a move many expected, this afternoon the Raiders announced that OT Donald Penn is no longer part of the team. The move is not a surprise, with the Raiders drafting tackle Kolton Miller in 2018 and signing tackle Trent Brown to the largest contract ever given to an offensive tackle just last week. But now it’s official. Raiders owner Mark Davis put out the following statement:For his part, Penn put this statement out, thanking and honoring the Raiders but insisting he isn’t done with his playing days just yet.Penn initially came to the Raiders in 2014 as a free agent after several years with the Buccaneers. He was a stalwart at left tackle for four seasons, and was a key cog in the 2016 Raiders line that was one of the best in the league and helped take Oakland to the playoffs. Penn was moved to right tackle last season and got injured in Week 4, spending the remainder of the season out.The move does save $5.5M in cap room for the Raiders Bo Jackson Jersey White , but leaves them pretty thin in tackle depth behind presumed starters Miller and Brown. Look for them to address the position in the upcoming Draft. ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Star receiver Antonio Brown returned to training camp with the Oakland Raiders on Monday, a day after being given an ultimatum by general manager Mike Mayock to be “all in or all out.”Brown took part in meetings in Napa before the team broke camp, a person familiar with the situation said on condition of anonymity because the team didn’t release details.Brown didn’t attend practice Sunday as he works to find a helmet that he’s comfortable using and that meets safety standards set by the NFL and NFLPA. Brown lost a grievance last week seeking to use the Schutt Air Advantage helmet he has used throughout his career because it was too old to be certified as safe.He had hoped to find a newer version of his preferred helmet that could be approved but the one he submitted failed a safety test conducted by the league and union, a second person said on condition of anonymity because test results weren’t released.Agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN earlier Monday that he expects Brown to be back practicing soon and that they are looking into “all options right now to resolve the helmet issue.” The Raiders’ next practice will be Tuesday.“Antonio is very genuine,” Rosenhaus said. “He wants to be there. He wants to be a part of the team. He wants to practice. But he’d also like to do it with the helmet that he’s worn his entire life. He wore this helmet in pee-wee football, high school football, in college at Central Michigan. And he also wore this helmet his nine-year (NFL) career.“This is his life. He’s risking everything. He’s got a family. He’s had a concussion before. This helmet has kept him safe. He’s had brutal hits. And we’re just trying to find a way to work it out. We’ve worked very closely with the Raiders, we’ve worked very closely with the NFL. But I hope people can appreciate this is not a simple issue. The helmet is the most important piece of equipment and he’s had the same one every single snap he’s played in his football career. This is a major issue for him.”Brown has yet to take part in a full practice all training camp for the Raiders https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , missing time because of frost bite on his feet suffered in a cryotherapy accident in France and now over the helmet issue. That led to Mayock’s public frustration Sunday when he said the Raiders had supported their star player but had “exhausted all avenues of relief.”“So from our perspective, it’s time for him to be all in or all out,” Mayock said. “So we’re hoping he’s back soon. We’ve got 89 guys busting their tails. We are really excited about where this franchise is going and we hope A.B. is going to be a big part of it starting Week 1 against Denver.”Brown had 686 catches and 9,145 yards receiving the past six seasons in Pittsburgh, the best marks ever for a receiver in a six-year span. But he still wore out his welcome with the Steelers after leaving the team before a crucial Week 17 game last season and was able to be acquired by Oakland in March for the small price of third- and fifth-round draft picks. The drama that surrounded Brown in Pittsburgh didn’t stop upon his arrival with the Raiders even though he was given a hefty raise with a three-year contract worth $50.125 million.Brown arrived at camp with frost-bitten feet, sending him to the non-football injury list. He was activated on July 28 and participated in parts of two practices before leaving the team to get treatment on his feet and to deal with the grievance with the NFL. Brown returned to the Raiders on Aug. 13 but still hasn’t participated in a full practice all of training camp.
It was widely believed that Texans linebacker (or defensive end) Jadeveon Clowney would have signed his franchise tender by now. It is widely believed that the Texans won’t rescind Clowney’s franchise tender. But they still could. Until Clowney accepts it Brandon Dunn Jersey , the franchise tender can be withdrawn. (It has happened at least three times before, with the Panthers doing it in 2016, removing the tender from cornerback Josh Norman.) If, as has been reported elsewhere, the Texans are willing to package Clowney with a first-round pick for Dolphins tackle Laremy Tunsil, the Texans may be sliding into desperation mode with Clowney. And the next question becomes, if they can’t move him for whatever they can get, whether the Texans would simply strip the tender, save $16 million to $17 million in cash and cap space, and move on.It’s unclear, but unlikely, that the Texans would be eligible for a compensatory draft pick in 2020 if they remove the tender now, given that the compensatory draft pick formula shuts off in May. Still, the bigger issue here could be that the Texans simply want to move on from Clowney and his significant financial obligation for 2019.While it would still be a surprise if the Texans do it, remember this: Former G.M. Brian Gaine wanted to sign Clowney to a long-term deal, and coach Bill O’Brien wanted to use the one-year tender. With Gaine gone and no one taking his place Womens Deshaun Watson Jersey , it’s possible O’Brien has shifted from “I only want him for another year” to “I’d rather keep the cap space for next year.”The Texans surely would exhaust any and all trade options for Clowney before ever releasing him. But with trade interest limited and with Clowney not signing the tender (which prevents a trade from happening), the Texans eventually could get sufficiently exasperated with Clowney that they cut him loose. From Clowney’s perspective, it makes sense to consider whether he’d get a better deal on the open market if he suddenly becomes a free agent. Given his history of injuries and performances that have gone hot and cold from time to time, he may have a hard time getting more in 2019 than he currently would get by simply accepting what the Texans are offering. That’s dandy.I don't care if the Texans are reportedly in talks with veteran left tackle Donald Penn. That’s swell. The only thing any Texans fan should care about is who the Texans can draft with the 23rd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. That person needs to be able to protect Deshaun Watson for the foreseeable future. Ideally, the Texans would not have to move up in the draft to secure the player of their choice. If Brian Gaine and Bill O’Brien (a/k/a the two headed monster Bill O’Gaine) do decide to wait it out, hold onto their draft picks, and let the draft come to them, there ma be a stash of quality left tackles awaiting them. I originally wanted to compare Dalton Risner to Yodny Cajuste, seeing that they were almost identical in body type. Both Risner and Cajuste are 6’5” and 312 pounds with 34-inch arms and hands that were almost identical as well (Risner’s are 1⁄4 inch bigger at 10 1⁄4).But upon watching their tape, I thought that there were more components to Risner’s game that make for good conversation when comparing to Ole Miss left tackle Greg Little. The quick and dirty version is that Risner is a plug-and-play right tackle in the NFL whose run blocking will elevate the rushing attack of any team, and he can hold his own against powerful pass rush. Greg Little has the look of an ideal left tackle, has faced high-level pass rushers throughout his career, and with some polishing can become a star. For Dalton Risner and the slew of Big 12 linemen that are entering the 2019 NFL Draft http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-tashaun-gipson-jersey , the first knock against them is that they rarely faced top flight pass rushers compared to SEC and Big Ten linemen. Risner does have the distinction of having faced one of the premier rushers in this draft class in Montez Sweat. From watching the film of these two athletes battling it out, many parts of Risner’s game are revealed. The first big trait to note is in Risner’s run blocking prowess is how he habitually shields the defender from the hole rather than driving him off the line of scrimmage. Like two bears grappling in the forest, Risner and Sweat would come to a standstill at the line of scrimmage while the running back darted in and out of holes during multiple interior rush plays. On this play, Risner (#71) is at right tackle and creates a hole by forcing DE Montez Sweat upfield and pivoting his feet so that he gets completely between Green and the intended hole. Although this works in the Kansas State scheme, I think the Texans need a guy who can drive players off the ball and create a new line of scrimmage two yards into the defensive side of the field. According to NFL Outsiders, Houston Texans running backs were stuffed at or behind the line of scrimmage for 20.4% of rushes. If a fifth of our running plays are equivalent to an incomplete pass or a short sack, running the ball as often as the Texans do seems like a lost cause. That’s why I think the Texans need a warrior to push the pile. Risner possesses the aggression necessary to be a right tackle, but he has to learn the art of driving people off the ball.Risner is known as a run blocker first and foremost, but I really do like his tape as a pass blocker on the right side. Against Texas and Charles Omenihu, Dalton did a good job in the rare pass plays to provide protection for the QB. Omenihu is projected to be a second or third round selection in the upcoming NFL draft, and Risner did a great job of shooting his hands to draw first contact throughout the game. Risner’s technique is to jab with his upper body before the defender can make a move. He works to slow down a rusher by locking in on this chest and controlling his upper body. Scouts would really like to see him drop his hips and lower his center of gravity to complement his upper body abilities. He does have a tendency to lunge at his defenders, but overall he has a good sense of distance and keeps his hands active in pass blocking. Now to Greg Little. Little seems to be one of the biggest fallers in the draft process due to an incomplete NFL Combine and poor footwork in his film analysis. In Todd McShay’s Mock Draft 1.0, Little was mocked to the Carolina Panthers at No. 14. In McShay’s 2.0 version, Little fell to No. 18, and the latest version does not even include the left tackle in the first round.Little has all of the accolades and body size the NFL idealizes in their left tackle. He was one of the top prospects in the country coming out of high school (after playing with Kyler Murray and Bobby Evans at Allen HS in the Dallas area).Little immediately produced for the Rebels as a Freshman All-American and finished his career as an First Team All-SEC lineman. At 6’5”, 315 pounds Jon Weeks Jersey White , he has one of the wider bases and longer arms than many of the other tackles in this draft class. Even if he had a poor Combine, Little’s tape does not lie:He has the tools to play at the next level. If the the first thing you think of when analyzing an SEC offensive linemen is “I want to see his tape against Alabama. Show me how he fared against NFL-level talent”, you need to re-adjust your thought process. The Ole Miss-Alabama game ended in a 62-7 massacre; Ole Miss threw their game plan out the window after the third drive.Instead, let’s watch Little’s Texas A&M film. The Aggies had a solid defensive line and really knew how to penetrate the Ole Miss offensive front. In the play below, Little (#74) is the left tackle playing against a five-technique defensive end. This play epitomizes what a NFL team will be getting with Little.Low center of gravity.Smart use of hands.Deep hips.Low base. A good first punch.A technical lock out of the pass rusher. It all combines to do the trick.Ole Miss never really asked much of its offensive line this past season in terms of holding blocks. From watching this game, the Alabama game, and the Auburn game, it becomes apparent that continuing blocks was not necessary as the Rebels utilized their arsenal of receivers and run-pass options (RPOs) to put up points. Here is my favorite play of the day: 2nd and 6, with the Ole Miss Rebels trying to drive into Texas A&M territory. Little is playing left tackle and is facing 6’3”, 300 pound Justin Madubuike’s bull rush.Little does a magnificent job of keeping his hands and weight composed when Madubuike blasts straight into him. What is impressive about this play for Little is his ability to re-gather himself to stay in front of the pass rusher while not losing contact with him. Usually when attempting to re-gather themselves, young offensive linemen release their hands and drop back further into the pocket to save face. Little is so massive that he can handle NFL level size and not tumble over. The two main knocks against Little are his footwork and balance. After his well-oiled kick-slide, things dissolve into a frenzy of recovering and readjusting his stance. There is a difference between active feet and hurried feet. Active feet, a trait most beloved by NFL scouts, means that the player is constantly readjusting his footing to increase balance and power. Little’s hurried feet are working harder to save and restore a block rather than maintaining the current positioning. I’ll give you one good play from the Ole Miss-Alabama game to satisfy your interest if I haven’t already convinced you. Little has all the talent necessary to be a stud left tackle in the league. Compared to Risner, Little is a better pass blocker, but he’s less versatile than Risner. Little is a left tackle through and through; Risner can play all over the offensive line. That versatility is major plus if you want to be wearing Deep Steel Blue and Battle Red in the NFL.Yes http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-aaron-colvin-jersey , one is a left tackle and one is a right tackle, but their approach to their position helps identify traits that the Texans might be seeking in the upcoming draft. Little’s mentality is to absorb opposing defenders in the pass game and shove them into the melee in the run game. Risner’s approach is to isolate and punish his opponent on both run and pass plays. If the Texans were to draft Little, their first task would be to align his feet, hips, and hands to all work in coordination. He is too disjointed in his technique. If Little can put it all together, we’ve got a starting left tackle for the next decade. With Martinas Rankin moving to left guard, it would be fun to see an Ole Miss left tackle working with a Mississippi State left guard. If the Texans were to draft Risner, they would stick him at his more comfortable right tackle position and tell him to brawl his heart out. They would also need to shore up his footing for more efficient movement. Risner’s current draft value as a late first - early second round pick puts him in a precarious position, as the Texans may have to make a move back out of the first or jump higher into the second to have a chance to select him without reaching too early.Who knows?Maybe both Little and Risner are available with the 54th and 55th picks, and Houston can lock up our starting tackles in the second round. If you could tell me that the Texans would get a corner like Deandre Baker in the first round and then Dalton Risner and Greg Little in the second round, I would be ecstatic. Later this week, I’ll compare Kaleb McGary and Cody Ford, two tough right tackles that have first/second round grades on them as well.

(AP)Matthew Stafford put on a quarterback clinic for the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field. Aaron Rodgers could only watch from the sideline. Stafford passed for 361 yards and two touchdowns to Marvin Jones, and the Lions snapped a three-game losing streak with a 30-17 win on Monday night over the offensively challenged Green Bay Packers.Article continues below ... ”Matt (made) some great throws … I just did what I love to do –go out there and get them,” Jones said. Stafford was 26 of 33, including 12 of 14 in the first half with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jones. Ameer Abdullah added a 4-yard touchdown run for Detroit (4-4). Green Bay (4-4) finally got in the end zone on Brett Hundley’s 1-yard quarterback sneak with 9:52 left. The Lions answered with Stafford’s 11-yard touchdown pass to Jones with 8:06 remaining, putting the game out of reach with a 17-point lead. Jones had seven catches for 107 yards. The Packers have lost three straight games. Their once-potent offense has struggled since Rodgers broke his right collarbone on Oct. 15 at Minnesota. Hundley finished 26 of 38 for 245 yards. Cornerback Darius Slay blanketed Jordy Nelson when the Packers did try to throw long while the game was still competitive. ”With this one obviously it doesn’t get a whole lot better than this. We played well Will Harris Jersey Womens ,” Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. Abdullah fumbled the ball away in the third quarter, but the Packers went three-and-out on the ensuing drive. Familiar problems in the red zone popped up for the Lions when they were stopped on three plays at the Packers 1, forced to settle for a field goal for a 17-point lead with 12:25 left. But without Rodgers, the Packers couldn’t keep up with the accurate, rocket-armed Stafford. ”I believe in Brett, that’s not just a press conference statement,” coach Mike McCarthy said about Hundley. THIRD DOWNS The Lions were 8 of 13 on third-down conversions, with Stafford burning the Packers with clutch throws. The Packers were just 2 of 9 on third downs and failed to convert both of their fourth-down chances. ”They controlled the third-down battle tonight Matthew Stafford Jersey ,” McCarthy said. ”We have work to do. That’s the fact of the matter and we have to do it fast.” CRITICAL PENALTY The Lions’ opening score was set up by an unnecessary roughness penalty on Mike Daniels, after the defensive lineman appeared to head-butt Detroit center Travis Swanson. The flag negated an incompletion on third-and-15 that would have forced the Lions to punt from their own 25. Stafford connected with Jones for the touchdown pass five plays later. MILESTONE The first scoring strike to Jones was the 200th touchdown pass in 117 career games for Stafford, the sixth-quickest in NFL history to reach the milestone. Stafford, who turns 30 in February, is also fourth in NFL history for career touchdown passes before age 30 behind Dan Marino, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre. NOT SPECIAL Special teams didn’t help the Packers.
